There were mature Bay Trees already planted in the garden when I moved in. I'm forever cutting back shoots coming up around the trees. I would never plant one in the ground.

No is the simple answer, with out being blunt, It will still need to be free draining so it doesn’t sit in water all the time as it will rot out if your not careful.

I was having problems hearing, the volume is very low. My question is, how long does it take for the plant to get root?

The volume is a trail with a new set of Bluetooth microphones. As for roots I’ve got 2 out the 3 that I plant still small roots as the tree takes years to grow to the size of the one I planted. It’s a very slow process. But worth it.

Hi there, my bay trees have small black spots on leaves here and there. Google says it can be a fungus, but they look as bad as the Google pics. Is it normal to have some spotting, are they still healthy? I've repotted in new compost and fertilised them in the hope that it will solve the problem.

Hopefully that’s will sort it out, with re-potting this time of the year, not the best time, but things can be done to help. Keep watering it well at the base of it, give it some support if it need it, try to keep water off the leaves when watering it more so if it’s in the sun as this can burn the leaves. Normally rain doesn’t affect this so it can rain Be in full sun and be ok, Try to water well at night, this will give it change to soak up the water rather than the Sun sucking it straight back up. Hope this all helps

Would you consider using root hormone? Is bay easy or difficult to root from cuttings? Thanks. Great video.

Hi Amy!! Yes I would definitely use a root hormone, as for how hard is it, it’s a hit or miss Iv got one out of 3. So I’m happy with that it’s free so worth having a go

What potting compost do you use or recommend for a cutting?

I use my own compost, but anything that’s good got a grown agent within it, personally I’ll go for something on the lines of miracle grow. With every going Peet free, Iv decided to try and get as much compost at home, start of small and you will soon have compost, Remember to try and add a root hormone as well to give it the best chance of germination. Find a strong Leaf node and cut it off from there strip 80% of the flowers and pop the bace in some grow hormone and stick it some good compost, keep it damp and hopefully you will get a free tree from it
