My Grandparents moved here from the south and started a family in Hunters Point projects. My dad still tells stories about Potrero and Hunters Point.

1961 to 1973 Potrero Hill was my home. Teachers impressed with us kids as we lived on State streets. We lived at 912 Connecticut and later 3 bedroom at 1710 25th Street. It was hard but what could mama do after getting divorced. Got a good job and tried to fet to live with me in a home. She liked the Projects. Eventually i moved my family to Northern California. Mama did her best RIP.

There is two sides to Potero Hill. One side of the Hill has projects and the other side of the hill has multi million dollar views of downtown, directly on the other side of the hill.

All the projects on Connecticut are being demolished and replaced with the locked front door apartment buildings

And now they’re getting torn down from multi million dollar townhouses that don’t even look right in that area

As a young naïve Canadian prairie boy tourist I walked alone through Hunters Point and Potrero area one afternoon in 1977. I still laugh about the looks I got from the residents. I am a blond blue eyed Dutch boy and stood out. LOL

It was in the late 1960's and early 1970's It is not a scary place today. I had a great aunt who lived there, one of the few white families left. Her husband was a welder in WW2 era.
