I think a cool idea for the mercenary tag might not be to necessarily make a team full of mercenaries but rather if they have the mercenary tag they gain whatever tags the leader has, as if they were “hired” to serve that specific faction. I’m sure they’d have to throw in some limitations as that could potentially be game-breaking lol maybe just exclude GLs or something. Or they only gain half of whatever bonuses are thrown out. But that was my initial thought. Throw Baylan and Shin in whatever team you want as hired mercenaries and they have some synergy with whoever “hired” them

If I had to guess, all BH's will get the 'Mercenary' tag but more than likely won't fit super well into it apart from maybe super niche things (because there would have to be a lot of changes to a bunch of kits). It'll probably be used for a LOT of characters though, like Han Solo and Chewbacca count as Mercenaries, i believe Zorri would as well. It could possible be something that maybe can unite a bunch of characters from a bunch of different factions and groups under a leadership similar to JK Cal in TB where you can have a team of leftover nobodies put together and do some genuine good work.

13:52: To answer that: I don't think Doctor Aphra was hired by Darth Vader as a Mercenary, Vader was trying to build up his Private Resources and Doctor Aphra was merely a tool to that end like Building a Army of Commando Droids for him, Indeed she was more or less Recruited to serve him, I don't think she got payed at all. She was however happy to serve him because she felt she finally had a purpose in Life... After serving her time With Vader, she became more or less a Treasure Hunter - Indiana Jones style who happens to help the Empire and Rebellion from time to time. But she only cares about herself, she doesn't care about others. So, no. I Don't think Aphra was a Mercenary. EDIT: Canderous Ordo could be a Mercenary, yes! In Knights of the Old Republic, You meet Canderous Ordo when he was kinda the Muscle-man to the Exchange - A Big Criminal Syndicate, as a Ex-Mandalorian then, i think he did Mercenary work for them. He was however against the Idea that Mandalorians became BountyHunters in KOTOR2... So Definetly a Mercenary.

I agree with a lot of what you said about who could be considered a mercenary. But when you look at the current functionality of the current teams I feel like most scoundrels and the bad batch will be left alone since a mercenary tag for them wouldn’t really do anything. Maybe boba, jango and some of the left over bounty hunters could get the tag, but I feel like that’d require a rework of some kind and I just don’t see them reworking that many characters. I think some of the less used guys will get the tag though, canderous seems like a good choice for an existing character to get the tag. This will likely be a new faction that gets new characters or new versions of existing characters.

The alignment/roll tags should ether be separate from the faction tags or be able to have 1 alignment/roll tag selected alongside a faction tag so you could say search for support Unaligned Force Users or a Dark Side scoundrel If you say select both Rebel and Dark Side you won’t get anything because there aren’t any Dark Side Rebels but if you say search for both Support Droids it will only show you Droids that are also support characters

Canderous Ordo is a mercenary. Many mandalorians were mercenaries. I can see Boba scion of jango being one. Maybe giving his kit the mercenary tag and mercenaries unlocking the contract could help him be a better character. On the Legends side of the description Gungans were considered mercenaries. Kyle katarn han(which I'm sure chewy will be one as well). Bossk since all the trandosians were used as mercenaries. Maybe a place for mob enforcer and IG-86(which could get the scoundrel tag as well) Cad bane could get a rework to his lead and have him allow mercenaries to help with his contract.

I honestly suspect we’ll get the Captain Enoch kit reveal this Monday simply because the infograph for Ahsoka shows the next set of requirements having two dark side characters and two light side and at this point it’s been over a month since we got the first set of reqs. Mercenary is going to be a weird tag since we have Scoundrels in the game already, but I see Shin and Marrok being the last requirements for Baylan unless they do a Jedi Training Sabine instead of Marrok. I think it'll be Marrok because he is a mercenary as well for Morgan, plus he'd give another reason for a second Inquisitor squad to be made since we have two that are homeless.

I think it'd be more likely for the season 2/3 versions of bad batch to get a mercenary tag. Either way, I think there would probably be some restrictions in the mercenary tag for light and dark side synergies to break up the tag some from being too broad

Chewie, Han’s companion. Young Han and Chewie. Qi’ra and young lando and L3 37. Enfys nest. Kyle Katarn. Maybe ventress or another version since she jumped ship from nightsister to separatist to bounty hunter to leaving that…..I think. Probably, maybe even one could say clones cause they were made to serve the galactic republic and go fight and stop the separatists thus establishing some sort of rule for the republic, and then when papa palp came in and took control and made them imperial troopers they were to serve him and establish rule for the empire even the first order well the trooper ones anyway and stop the republic, rebels, and later on the resistance, but maybe. I could very well be wrong on that too for the matter. but if I’m right I doubt the creators will do that due to balance reasons or something along the lines of that.

The way I see it, the difference between Bounty Hunters & Mercenaries is that you're a Bounty Hunter if you're going after a person/persons for a bounty/ bounties while you're a Mercenary when someone hires you to do a job/jobs to aide in their war and/or conflict. You can be both, as they often coincide with one another. And many played both sides...🤔 *Canderous Ordo was definitely a Mercenary that did some Bounty Hunting if I remember right. 🤔

Honestly, most of the Mandalorians would fit under the merc tag just due to the fact the faction is constantly hired by others to fight wars alongside them. Bo-Katan was with Death Watch, who aligned the Seps, then to the Night Owls, who were seen in S3 on a planet as mercs when she became Mand'alor. Jango and Ordo were both hired as soldiers at various points in their life. All of the Mando characters were hired by Karga to help fight off pirates and were given land. You could call Gar Saxon one as he ended up with Death Watch, The Shadow Collective, and the Imperials. The only current Mandos that wouldn't fit would be the Super Commando (which you probably could make an argument for) and Maul. You could make an argument for Sabine as well for coming to the aid of the Rebels at the end of season 4, but she did it more for the family like connection from previous seasons.

There's quite a difference between a bounty hunter and a mercenary. A mercenary is a professional soldier that now soldiers for money, not a cause. A bounty hunter is a person that captures fugitives who have had a bounty put on their head. The thing they both share is that they both shoot beings for money. As this is a common factor, somebody like Jango was indeed a hired mercenary and bounty hunter. I guess Boba as well for Jabba.

I've always viewed it as every bounty hunter is/can be a mercenary, but not every mercenary is a bounty hunter. That's just how it makes sense in my head. Bounty hunters will seek out open contracts themselves, but are also willing to be hired on for the right price, look at the hutts for instance and the bounty hunters they have on call and some just on gaurd duty. Mercenaries on the other hand don't look for open contracts, and do something like Baylan where he's hired on for something broad scoped. Edit: also almost every single Mercenary better be switched to neutral alignment lol.
