Boatadvice journalist Dominic Wiseman takes a look at the 2015 Bayliner 175, a boat almost singlehandedly responsible for putting more new boat owners on the water than any other. The Bayliner name is synonymous with quality product and simple maintenance all supported by a strong dealer network. They aim this boat squarely at the first time owner or those upgrading from a tinnie to a larger boat.
The Bayliner 175 as tested by boatadvice comes standard with a 135 horsepower 3.0L Mecruiser inboard stern drive engine that delivered brilliant performance on the water. Dominic liked the seating position which is more go cart than boat combined with the torque generated by the engine delivering a top speed of 70 kilometres an hour. The steering was also precise and sure thanks to the standard power steering.
All in all boatadvice like this spacious seventeen foot hull with easy to read dashboard, designed purposefully for those that may not have owned boats before. The simplicity of this hull contradicts the multitude of uses this boat is capable of filling from cruising to water tow sports and even a little fishing.

I put a mercury 150 hp on that model was able to do 70 mph wish I had the boat still

Not to mention fuel economy is excellent compared to outboard motor. Inboard easier to maintain too!

On what world is an inboard easier to maintain than an outboard? There arent even oil changes on an outboard.

The oil change takes 20 minutes.. The engine has a oil outlet hose that you pull through the stern plug an drain. very easy to tuneup.. BUT* the fuel filter is a bugger down under backwards but doable...@@kenp639

I have a 2004. Looks almost new. Easiest boat to own. It's not flashy and it's aways the smallest out there but it's perfect. 42mph on good water and fuel lasts weeks.

I got a 2001 model. Runs great and goes 40mph with 4 up. Even without power steering its very easy to steer.
