We've been waiting a long time for this. Nice job, looks great! The small tabbing around the supports below the plywood is fine in your application. Normally tabbing is 4 inches or so on each side of the corner. Use some thickened resin or fairing compound to form a curve on the inside of the corner so the glass doesn't have to bend around a sharp right angle inside corner. The glass will refuse to bend at a right angle, often leaving an air bubble under the glass at the corner which takes away a lot of the strength. Router a radius curve or sand round any outside corners you want glass to go around. Always smooth curves, never right angles. Always stir up gelcoat or paint before taking what you need from the container.

Holy crap what an incredible amount of work. My only unsolicited advice would be to start with a C Ray next time

Take backseat and motor cover to upholstery shop. They could match and cover it like the sides.

Looks fantastic! I’m going out to wet sand and polish the top of our boat.

If you ever do another boat.... Put the hinges on the inside of the lid and use mushroom head or countersunk bolts. Reason being, that metal can be sharp and you just never know what you're going to encounter down the way. I've got the scars from an old sun lounge hinge to show for it. My girlfriends friend couldn't get back in the boat on her own due to her being a bit overweight and started to struggle/panic. I had to jump in and help lift her back into the boat before she drowned.

Great series of videos. I am doing the same thing now. How did you anchor the rear part of the seat to the bottom box? Did you anchor the seat to the framing supports in the rear engine compartment?

You said one requirement was that it had to be removable. I know that the front two fasteners are butterfly nuts, but what’s holding the rear part in place ??
@ZachsGarage1

Which part do you mean by rear? There's the seat bench, seat bench base support, seat back, and engine top cover/sundeck

@@ZachsGarage1 I mean the rear part of the sun deck.

@@heesanoice7637 I have some hinges bolted to the boat and then the sundeck bolted to the hinges. So I just unscrew the bolts to remove

Tight bond 3!? I mean that wood can barely handle tight bond 2 on a good day. You are playing with fire my friend.

Oh absolutely. I don’t know who the hell taught him how to fiberglass. First off I wouldn’t be using trailer park paneling for a boat 😂. Hell even 1/4 inch for the sides is good enough. Seat half inch at least. Put some little tiny pieces of fiberglass in random ass spots to make it ridged my ass. Y’all do not do this shit. It’s atrocious. If u do it with the right would and not be an idiot. It will work. I’m sorry but fiberglass is only strong with multiple layers and some supports. I mean even a 1/4 inch thick piece of fiberglass will still move like a damn flag in the wind. A damn leaf will hit that piece of junk and sink it. Have fun with it
