Bayonne (/beɪˈ(j)oʊn/ bay-(Y)OHN) is a city in Hudson County in the U.S. state of New Jersey. Located in the Gateway Region, Bayonne is situated on a peninsula situated between Newark Bay to the west, the Kill Van Kull to the south, and New York Bay to the east. As of the 2020 United States census, the city was the state's 15th-most-populous municipality,[ with a population of 71,686, an increase of 8,662 (+13.7%) from the 2010 census count of 63,024, which in turn reflected an increase of 1,182 (+1.9%) from the 61,842 counted in the 2000 census. The Census Bureau's Population Estimates Program calculated that the city's population was 69,211 in 2021, ranking the city the 544th-most-populous in the country.
Bayonne was originally formed as a township on April 1, 1861, from portions of Bergen Township. Bayonne was reincorporated as a city by an act of the New Jersey Legislature on March 10, 1869, replacing Bayonne Township, subject to the results of a referendum held nine days later. At the time it was formed, Bayonne included the communities of Bergen Point, Constable Hook, Centreville, Pamrapo and Saltersville.
While somewhat diminished, traditional manufacturing, distribution, and maritime activities remain a driving force of the economy of the city. A portion of the Port of New York and New Jersey is located there, as is the Cape Liberty Cruise Port.

TY so much for this tour of Bayonne. I was born in the Bayonne Hospital in the 1950s & my family moved out around 1966. I have been back several times for some events, but all my family is now deceased & the ones who are alive are long gone from Bayonne (except for 1 cousin). It's amazing how many buildings, schools & churches are still intact over all these years. The flashbacks you've given me are amazing from a long lost era.

Born and raised in Bayonne, West 28th Street, one block from St. Henry’s church and school. Rode the Boulevard bus to high school in Jersey City, and took public transit to college in lower Manhattan. For me, Bayonne was a good jumping-off point back then, 1960s.

I'm a lifelong Bayonne resident, I know Bayonne inside out. You missed the eastside where the shopping and fast food restaurants are. Lots of new buildings, the light rail, the back highway, (Rt. 440) . Just saying, there's lots more to this town than the residential areas. Many great parks and sports fields. We are a peninsula, the waterfront views are of NYC, Newark, Elizabeth, Staten Island. The ships from all over the world pass through the Kill Van Kull, under the Bayonne bridge, on the way to Port Newark. I know you couldn't show everything, so I'm adding some here.

I lived briefly in Bayonne back in 2010. Now I'm in Chicago. I recognize some of the structures. Bayonne was a nice town , but I guess somethings have changed since 2010 .

been almost 40 years since i lived there, moved away before i was 10. Immediately, in the first 3 seconds, i knew exactly where i was. It is so odd, seems so different but still the same. Going to Horace Mann and sneaking out of the yard through the bent iron fence and going across the street for pizza during lunch. Riding on my friends handlebars down JFK between parked cars and traffic to his grandmas every friday.
