But the same can be argued when you speculate on the next big comic issue (1st appearance, big event, variant cover, etc), or think an upcoming video game has a limited release or short print run. The thing Broken Games keeps missing is the fact that Rudy states REPEATEDLY "DON'T BE A TIMMY." He's been telling people for years to be CAUTIOUS when it comes to investing in anything, even "grown up" stuff like real estate or stocks/bonds. Broken Games views every single video Rudy makes as "Rudy's hyping everything up and telling you to buy everything", which is so goddamned far from the truth.

@@matthewferrantino9521 I pieced together a Legends set during that time frame and also bought a house. Every time I see a good deal on one, life gets in the way. It's not a necessity to own one. But it would be nice. I just want to get a deal on one. Sure, I could just buy one on TCG or somewhere for full price. But I'd rather get a deal or do a partial trade/cash for one. I was mostly just poking at Rudy and telling him that I never forgot about the Bazaar, I have been looking and trying to get a deal on one, it's just not gotten any easier these past 3 years to do so, and probably not going to get easier any time soon.

Have you seen the prices for Glorious Anthem (7th edition) FOIL and Angel of Jubilation FOIL? They have skyrocketed. On MCM, the first one starts now in the 50 Euro range and the second one in the 70 Euro range. So someone quietely bought out all the foils of those two particular cards. (English only.)

Who bought power 9 in 2011 in the comment section and saw their investment multiply 10 fold? I missed that ship, but I know beta moxen we’re selling for $400 during that time. People thought that was expensive than. Look at the price now. Sought out reserved list cards just continue to increase in value over time. Get you some expensive cardboard and hold.

That seems kinda sketchy with beta moxen being that low in 2011. I forget the exact price but I wanna say revised underground seas were $125ish in 2011. I remember back in 2004-2005 a dealer (with a long and consistently good history on fair prices) was selling a very clean UNL Timetwister for $300. You sure those beta moxen weren't collector's edition? At the time collector's edition power was about $100 each with a slightly higher premium on the lotus. I know this because I bought some.

In 2013 I did trade to get a Bazaar.... It was 300$ CAD I did trade an heavy played damaged Candelabra of Thanos + other cards..... Finished the trade with a Bazaar and a Berserk Unlimited..... One of my best trade ever done 😎

I think it was a very interesting point around the 8 minute range. Rudy probably owns more RL cards than just about anyone else alive, and he doesn't care if they get rid of it. I have been saying for years, even if there were more Tropical Islands or whatever in the world, there wouldn't be any more ABU Tropical Islands. Birds of Paradise and Lightning Bolt have been reprinted approximately a billion times each, Bolt often at common. Near Mint Beta Bolt is a couple hundred dollar card. the best thing that could happen to that card is if they put it back into Standard, because the high end players would want the most exclusive version. the list served a purpose at one point, but now, no matter how plentiful the reprints, the scarcity of the originals means they wouldn't be harmed at all long term.

I think the hate comes from all the people who wish they'd kept their reserved list cards from back in the day when they were dirt cheap. Yep, I've sold power this century, and regretted it, but I also kept power, so I'm not out of the game. I've got my duals, moxen, and a fistful of reserved list stuff that I am proud to own, and I'm not putting down for anyone. Congrats Rudy. Have fun with all that. I agree with you and have been too poor to buy into magic anywhere close to that. I got my set of Revised dual lands (40 cards) for $750 in 2007. I got my 4 Bazaar of Baghdad for my dredge deck at $250 each, one at a time. I got my Unlimited Black Lotus for about $1,200. I just want cards to play with. No disrespect because I love your videos, but the prices are flipping disgusting. Not your fault, just the market, but it is shameful that the reserve list exists and we have to turn to counterfeit cards just to play with these game pieces.

@@andyr.3176 - People were going to try and buy put cards with it without Rudy. Get over yourself. I was saying back in 2006 that anyone with a large financial position could fuck over the reserve list and cards if they wanted to. It took a while and it has finally begun to happen. The reserve list should be removed. Those old rare cards will remain old and rare. Shivan Dragon from Alpha and Beta are worth thousands of dollars while the reprints are 10 cents and given away for free. They same would be true for the rest of the reserve list, or at least the good cards.

Exactly. Without him and other people like him, those cards would not be that expensive. Mtg is a highly speculative market. It has always been that way and it will stay that way. Unless someone is financially stable, it is suicide to invest in such a market.
