I had one of the old passive 8” Bazookas, blew the original driver and replaced it with a JL Audio 8W7 and powered it with an MTX 1000.1D. It did the job nicely 👍

When I was 16 my father bought me a pair of 6.5 of these bazookas, everyone in my neighborhood was crazy how loud they sounded, nowadays I bought one pair of 6.5 trying to remember those days, but the sound quality was awful, horrible materials and quality, but I did not give up, I stuck second skin STP noise reduction around the tubes, bought two JL w6v3 subwoofers and put polyfill inside, now! Sound! awesome!! just like those good days!!
@amanteapasionado68365 жыл бұрын
You should have kept them in the box so we could hear how the bumped. The 100w sub looks like it would be the 50w sub. The 50w looks more beefier with the bigger surround.
@PackardKotch5 жыл бұрын
Aww god I can’t wait for the next video, been here for years. Even the 50w driver looks like a decent sub that could do well even at home.

I still have my 10" passive Bazzoka from the 90's. I used to have an Orion sub mounted in it; on about 500w rms mounted in the hatch on a 86' Z28. That tube slammed in that car. Shit got really low for a single 10. Those tubes seemed to be a really efficient, given that it is mounted in the correct environment.

Screaming 90s kids when you remember bazooka tube subs 😂😂😂😂
@K03sport4 жыл бұрын
that 8" seemed fairly robust; at least compared to the 10" EL. looks like it was designed to handle more than the 50W advertised. Thanks for opening up the cabinets. I think some well placed sound deadener (80% coverage inside the barrel), and some better poly-fill and those tubes might sound really good for what they are. I always like the Bazooka tube for their all-in-one design for the DIY car audio guy on a budget. might have to pick one up and integrate it into my stock stereo

Those square bits serve a logical purpose around speakers to avoid puncturing a surround or cone. Squares are known for low-slippage and Bazooka surely thought of that. Robertson bits have a special taper, nor the same as regular square bits.

What would happen on the dual coil speaker if you put 2 different songs through it at the same time or connected the same song but with opposite polarity? In the second case could you have it make no sound at all (but lots of smoke)?
@RennieAsh Жыл бұрын
It would make a tiny bit of sound because the two coils are not identical (same song). Otherwise yes, it wouldn't move much, and would smoke up heaps. If played right you could let hear build up and then catch it on fire. Different songs would just sound like different songs playing at the same time
