What speakers would you have kept? I actually kept 3 pairs of Sony and one pair of Pioneer from the micro system lot to play around with! Can see them at 15:14 when I take the smoke alarm off the ceiling 😛

These JVCs from 44:08 They are the least ugly pair from the entire video and look quite decent but idk how they really sound. Other ones just look like they're begging to be destroyed.

Subscribed since forever, atleast since a little before middleschool. Short to say; I am a grown man now. Lol You disappeared for a little bit a couple years back, but sometime in 2020 you came back and it's just been awesome. I used to be (and kinda sorta still am) super into sound systems and speakers and stuff as a kid, still remember tearing apart my mom's poor PC speakers because I was fascinated by them, lol I've never said anything about it before, so I'll say it again; it's super awesome that you're back and posting and stuff. The amp blowing up was my favorite part haha. You should blow up amps more often! - Chris P.S. Whatever happened to that CS-800 or C8-800, whatever it was, the old Peavey amp you had? The big ass commercial one? I haven't seen it in your videos in YEARS. I have always wondered what happened to it, whether you blew it up or just sold it or something.

RIP amplifier. You should take it apart and show what burned up. I'd say a output stage shorted and sent voltage downstream to the power supply/ or amplifier driver boards. That was pulling some amps when u reset it the first time, the hum it made before it tripped the breaker on it, then the reset and frying of the boards. I'd be interested to see what all got blown up from it. That does suck it died though, but i bet the output stages couldnt take the direct short of the outputs and said yep i'm done, send voltage downstream.

I was not expecting that on the 'square' Sony, at least with the APMs it was an actual square driver. Typical foam rot as well - I had a pair of half decent APMs (can't remember the model number), but ended up chucking them out as there was no replacement foam available.

I have two pairs of vintage APM right now, Need to re foam and repair, cabinets are in bad shape a guy took them apart not thinking anyone would want them with foam rot, one set is a 10 inch two way the other is a two way 6 inch woofer and 10 inch passive radiator all square Edit: I had to special the 10 inch foam from some wild place I forget! The smaller foam is available from china

14:20 shorted output stage transistor, further confirmed by the resistors burning up when he resets it a few times, first reset resistor isnt too hot so it didnt burn up before breaker trips, second it have accumulated heat and now enough to glow and blow up, the extra spark probably from predriver burning up from trying to drive a shorted final transistor
