Robert Parrish was one of those quiet guys you just don’t mess with. He’s a martial artist so not too many players dared to test him. He was a tough player.

😂😂🎉😂😂 I had to play it back because I said holy moly this is old Chief with a bad ankle!! Celtics had no mercy with the Buils, Lakers, Pistons and 76ers. 76ers rivalry seemed to have gotten lost in history but it was fierce against Dr. J. Jordan learned from the good doctor and from Bird, how to get inside player's minds with trash talking. Chief is the man!! Those 3 played injured. No one could beat them even then until they just got too worn down after 6 straight trips to the finals, as you would 😂😂

I miss MJ. He was a ballerina in basketball shoes. Graceful but intense with the way he played the game. It was a joy to watch him. The only other person that come close to him was Kobe Bryant.

I'll never understand why bigs today seldom use those hooks (end of clip finish). They are near impossible to block and put the shooter in a decent position to get back to his feet for a rebound or to get back to a defensive stance since the shot arc is increased.

The game evolves. Bigs are waaaaay more athletic. They are not centers. They are athletic forwards that happen to be six ten and taller. Much higher skill sets than back in the day.

Low post skills aren't being taught as much or as well. Guys in the past who operated well in the post were either physical behemoths or spent years refining their skills. The most famous clinic for learning how to play in the low post was the Pete Newell Big Man Camp, which ran for 35 years but has been gone for more than 10 years now.

But it's like 7-footers today don't know how to take advantage of a mismatch down low because they don't know how to manufacture points with their backs to the basket. There's essentially nobody today with Kevin McHale or Adrian Dantley's skill set.

I remember when MJ mistook Robert Parrish for Will Perdue when the Chief became a Bull. Jordan tried to punk him in practice and Parrish reminded him that he was getting rings while Jordan was still in high school. And yeah, Parrish threatened to break Jordan in half (like he did to Bill Laimbeer) if he tried to do that again. Guess what? Jordan stayed in his lane after that. I don’t know what MJ was thinking by trying to do that to the Chief. Maybe he forgot how Parrish used to punk the bad boys in the mid to late 80s.

Parish wasn't scared. He saw Jordan coming in, over the top and was trying to hold his shot until Jordan had passed over. He just lost the ball. Jordan was upset because he got a whole lot more calls like that, when he had the ball and nobody had touched him. Why he was laughing, who knows?

Guarantee Jordan got a call or two in his career, but Chief was so respected by the refs he could travel on almost every low post move and rarely get called for it. The gave him another call here. He was lanky and awkward at times. A bit of a clutz but he knew how to play basketball. Very fundamentally sound, rebounded and played defense, and had some real good low post moves and a sweet touch from anywhere inside the free throw line. So skillful in martial arts he could almost kill a guy on the court and not get ejected from the game.

I find it funny how they make a big deal of mj getting called for a phantom foul when if you compare how many phantom calls were made in his favor over the years. He was a hell of a player!!
