Right or wrong, I truly believe that this was when the NBA was incredible. As a life long basketball fan, I honestly find it hard to watch an entire NBA game currently. Yes, the players have amazing skills and the 7 footers can shoot 3's, but it really lacks competitiveness and excitement in my opinion. The ratings reflect my assessment as well. The game is truly global now, and has a multitude of millions of more potential fans, but is unable to capture their attention.

The unbelievable thing about this is NYK management and scouting leading up to the 1992 NBA Draft. Eight (yes that's right, 8) shooting guards were selected before Sprewell, who came in at number 24. New York chose Hubert Davis at 20. Now that it is all said and done, Sprewell mauled Jimmy Jackson throughout his career; the supposed best young shooting guard in the land at the time, chosen behind Christian Laettner at number 4. Starks could have had Sprewell as a backcourt teammate... Sure we would not have seen Sprewell's run and gun style (where he is most natural), but the Knicks are much stronger in the East.... and Sprewell was a senior out of Alabama, hence his early peak and All NBA First team selection around 93-94. I don't think Cassell, Smith or Maxwell are half as effective with Sprewell hounding them for 40 minutes and New York squeezes out one chip in the Patrick Ewing era. Ewing had no legitimate star power, nor did Hakeem, so adding Sprewell might push NYK to win, put pressure on Houston guards to play defense and maybe, just maybe put Hakeem in foul trouble...... There is a ripple effect here. Sprewell was so good in the 90's.... Like a longer nastier Jimmy Butler spliced with Chicago D Rose.

Over the 92-94 teams???
@ronniebobbyedition993 Жыл бұрын
@@HeathOverledger Yes. Those teams were good, but not as good. This 96 Team had Ewing (before the broken wrist), Houston, LJ, Oakley, Starks, Ward, Childs, Buck Williams, and more. They had The Bulls number, and just about every team's number in the Eastern Conference that year
