Back in the day the BBC were never fans of The Specials or what they stood for. They banned Too Much Too Young from the radio and instead played Guns of Navarone, banned the Rat Race video as Jerry was dressed as a female music teacher and banned Stereotype from airplay as they didn't like the topic of the song. On TOTP chart rundown Stereotype was erased completely and only mentioned as International Jet Set. Hate the BBC. Love Terry, R.I.P. you Legend.

I'm 62 years old. I liked the Specials when they burst onto the scene in 1979. I'm a fan of the British Ska music revival. Other groups i liked were Bad Manners, Selecter, the Beat, but the Specials with Terry Hall fronting the group were my number 1. 🙏 RIP Terry

@@danieladams9950 I live in New Zealand Daniel. I'm in my sixties now. I have always liked British pop/ rock music. Starting in the 1960s with the British invasion. Groups such as Herman's Hermits, Gerry and the Pacemakers, Kinks, and of course the fab four the Beatles. Then in the 1970s i liked the Glam Rock scene with groups such as Slade, Mott the Hoople, Roxy Music, the Sweet etc. I also liked Gary Glitter and Suzi Quatro. I saw David Bowie here in New Zealand in 1978. It was a blast, great concert. Then I liked Punk Rock and groups such as The Sex Pistols, the Stranglers, the Damned, the Buzzcocks, X Ray Spex. The Electronic sound of the early 1980s. Bands like New Order, whom I saw in concert in 1984. Human League, Spandau Ballet etc It was known as the New Romantic scene. I even like Harry Styles today. Good pop music. So there you are. From Carl.

Such a huge influence on my musical youth was Terry Hall. I sang in a high school band, The Abstracked, here in good Ol’ Minneapolis, Minnesota. We were a punky/ska outfit with an amazing saxophone player. Juan still has the same Shure SM-57 now 40 years later. The Specials, The Clash, The Beat were my bands. (Modern Lovers, too.) Spring Break of freshman year, on family vacation, I had two cassettes I almost wore through in two weeks. One had Combat Rock and Special Beat Service, as friends thought both albums strayed too far from previous offerings but I found them brilliant. The other was The Specials and Joe Jackson’s Jumpin’ Jive because I loved both Terry and Joe’s unique and distinctive voices. I had my trusty Walkman and had just discovered weed and packed a bit with me to Florida. About the best two weeks of my youth, lol. Thank you for posting this tribute! 🙏🏽✌🏽💙 from Minnesota, USA

A terrible death. He apparently only found out back in September something was wrong. He initially thought it was a tummy bug. Who wouldn't. Then he suddenly went into hospital. They did tests and he found out he had cancer AND diabetes. Soon he was dead. He had a full diary for next year and a new album planned. So sad and unfair. I have been a fan since I was 17 in 1979. His death was an utter shock. RIP.
