This series is VASTLY better than those ghastly films. I've not bothered to watch any after the horrible rendition of "Prince Caspian'... Thanks so much for posting the series!

lol Caspian is sly. "In the world of my friends . . ." and she turns it right back on him! Bwahaha. Love this girl.

"you cannot kiss the princess until you disolve the enchantment." You can see Caspian trying not to swear. Like, "Oh, man, no way! Seriously? Sucks." Poor Caspian, he's just like, "Your lips, give me your lips...." I've been up too long.

And ... as fanciful as it may sound to what most of us believe our human experience is ... I don't disbelieve that we all may indeed BE landed stars. We are all energy in material form ... there's no disorganization to the Universe ... and perhaps, as Ramandu replies to Eustace when he states "in our world, a star is a giant ball of flaming gas" "Even in your world, my son, that is NOT what a star IS, but only what it is MADE of". I find this idea fascinating. And a beautiful way to think. :)

as for this part in particular, can anyone say "Shakespeare's 'The Tempest?'" A prince and his group happening upon an enchanted island with a pretty girl and her father?

Love Reepicheep - " While I can I shall sail east on the Dawn Treader When she fails me, I sail east in my coracle. When she sinks, I will swim with my four paws. When I can swim no longer and I have not yet reached Aslan's country, I shall sink with my nose to the sunrise! :):):)

Gabrielle Anwar! My god, all these years and she's popped up here in one of the first few movies I watched. She pops up in The Librarian II: The return of Solomon's Mines. Now she's Fiona in "Burn Notice".

Haha, for me it's just the opposite. I grew up with this version, so I'm not sure if I'm going to be able to get used to the newer version of him. :)

Yes, I felt uncomfortable with the ways the Calormenes are described too. In LB, Lewis does seem to say that there is a difference between Tash and Aslan ... and this does seem to speak to some sort of schism of righteousness. But, Lewis was a man living in post-war England ... and also, these are one man's view of the world experience. It doesn't detract from his stories. Art is expressed by the spirit ... and spirit is Universal, which is why it resonates in each of us. :)

I don't think there will be a Caspian/Susan/Star Girl love triangle. The gap between this book and Prince Caspian is more than a year. And Susan is never coming back (as far as Caspian knows). So he has no reason to hold onto any hope of being with her.
@AdirondackRuby16 жыл бұрын
I haven't seen the new movie, but I have just read the book, and I can definitely say that Caspian barely even met Susan or Lucy [they were with Aslan for most of it], so a love interest is impossible.

How totally lame is it that they don't even show Caspian and Ramandu's daughter's last conversation before he leaves the island in this? I hope they do better in the new one! I can't wait to see how Laura Brent does as Ramandu's daughter.

I think forbidding the books is overkill, though, Blissinflux. A mother wrote to Lewis because her son was upset that he liked Aslan better than Jesus. Lewis assured him that, when it came down to it, Aslan was symbolic of Jesus, and in loving Aslan, the boy loved the nature of Jesus after all. It is up to Christian parents to help their children understand that Jesus is really as loving and wonderful as Aslan. You should know that, if you claim that faith.

jeza25alexa Caspian and Susan were not in love. There was an attraction but that was not romantic. Caspian and Star are romantic. They never said that they were in love nor does a kiss have to indicate being in love.

actually the Calormenes were Islam biased, not the Telmarines, read "The Horse and his Boy" and "The Last Battle" to learn more.

@aniretak92 I'm presuming that you were actually a child in the 1940's to make such a generalization. Even if you were, don't you think that it is unfair to state that these kids are better at being 1940's schoolchildren, just because they are more condusive to your own perceptions of what a 1940's child is? Individuals are individuals, no matter what generation they are from and I feel that the ones in the film did a good job. These ones did a good job too, don't get me wrong.

yeah, I just saw the new one and its worth watching but the whole Caspian/Susan thing (which they throw in for no reason) makes absolutly no sense. Still a good movie but the romance added absolutly nothing to it (thankfully its only towards the end we see that)

these seem to be more LDS (Mormon) in style than non-denominational Christian. Other worlds? Premortal existence? The fact that the Son of the Emperor Across the Sea (aka Jesus) and not the Emperor Himself created the worlds? That's LDS doctrine right there.
@lovetolovefairytales15 жыл бұрын
@courttv89 Sounds like a plan! I can't wait to laugh at them, too. I know that sounds mean, but hey whatever. If we can't laugh at dire-hard suspian fans, who CAN we laugh at? LOL.
@NightmareDolly17 жыл бұрын
but why is that bad? Aslan is symbolic of Jesus. Who cares if, to a child, Jesus takes the form of a great, kind Lion? Especially since Jesus was the Lion of Israel. And once a child is old enough to understand that you either believe in Jesus and God, or just God, not Jesus without God, there should't be a problem. Did that even make sense? Me personally, I'm LDS, and I intend to read these books to my pregnant belly, my babies, and my children.
