WHEN SHOULD YOU RUN A DUAL-PLANE INTAKE ON YOU BBC? DOES ALL THE EXTRA TORQUE OFFERED BY THE DISPLACEMENT OF A BBC MAKE THE DUAL PLANE MANIFOLD UNNECESSARY? DID THE INTAKE DESIGNERS MAKE THE DUAL PLANE FOR MILD APPLICATIONS? LET'S TALK TECH.

I have a 489 with Air Gap and a solid roller 236/242, Edelbrock 100cc oval ports. it makes 15" of vacuum and has incredible street manners.

I recently took advantage of a sale, got an RPM air gap for my 454. We've discussed it before on other live feeds. 454 + .040" bore, .100" dome pistons, CNC'd AFR 265s. Was running a GM ZZ 502 H.O. cam, decided to go big or go home... switching to a 248/256 @ .050" cam.

RPM air gap, or home made cross ram for the win! The port injection air gap needs a test.

The problem with a dual plane intake manifold is that if you have a healthy big block you don't need more low end torque. It only creates traction problems especially on the street. I have a dart single plane intake on my iron headed rectangular port 496 big block chevy and it still burn 🔥 up the tires 😆 no ovals and no dual plane

Then you need to work on your suspension and tires. How fast can your suspension and tires go. That is the question? Do the rest of the work.

Edelbrock used to make a C427 dual plane intake with dominator flange.

Missed the chat . On a big block , say 496 or smaller paired with afr 265 heads, what cam and intake would you recommend. Intended purpose would be for fun street use and maybe some blasts down the track . But mostly street fun.

It all depends on the torque converter you're running because a single plane intake doesn't have any problem making power down low just like a dual plane you're giving the cylinder all the are it can flow in there from all four barrels instead of just two of them

a dual plane at WOT uses all 4 barrels, and the difference in power down low is not the carb

Got to be just about out of engine displacement and n/a vs. boost options. I'd like to know where this thing is going. I'd bet no where.
