Got the placepot up on gold cup day this year was waiting on cashew King ridden by T Wall in the county hurdle it won it got me around £1900 pound for £2 happy days. Thanks for putting these races on

Back when it was a 3 day festival and all were competitive races. Top hurdlers went Champion hurdle or Stayers hurdle and best chasers Champion Chase or Gold Cup. Thanks for uploading 👍🏻

The Gold Cup is a hard watch, so sad to see Forgive N Forget breaking down. The Duke even said that the joy of winning the Gold Cup was shattered when he heard the news.

I was gutted when Little Polvier fell at the 5th last when in the lead and going well having backed him ew but got revenge the following year when I backed him again at 50/1 ante post and also had West Tip 2nd at 25/1. I was laughing all the way to the Leeds when they fought out the finish!

This is a great upload. Look at the size of the fields, incredible. Now a complaint, though not about this upload. By 1988 Peter O'Sullevan should have been nowhere near racing commentary. Loads of us at the time knew it, but it became something close to blasphemy to suggest that perhaps he should move on. Listen to his commentary on the Champion Hurdle here. Constantly mixing up Celtic Chief and Celtic Shot, not tracking Classical Charm until very late and not giving an accurate depiction of what was happening. This deterioration in his commentary had been evident for a number of years. Although people remember his 'the mare's beginning to get up' for Dawn Run's Gold Cup, the rest of his commentary for that race is really really weak, and I'm being kind there. Anyway, enjoyed this piece of history.

Very harsh on the Great man but yes mistakes were starting to creep in late in his career but at his best he was wonderful.

@@HorseRacingLegends That's a fair point. My argument would be is that his best was a very very long time before he retired. I thought some of his commentaries by 1985/6 were awful and yet he went on for another 10 years.
