BBC Idents until 7th October 2006

BBC1 has had a number of idents over the years. This is a compilation shown in the early hours of October 7th before a brand new ident was launched.

I miss these! I remember they hardly played the last one, it was quite often just used for sad occasions. And it's shot in Cornwall :)

I remember all of these! I loved the ladies dangling from the curtain things, and the tap dancers.

It's so strange how these are all still imprinted into my brain even though it's been 5 years. I didn't even notice them at the time, I swear!

I liked the idea of all the ones where they camera is moving backwards and they're walking towards it. Very distinctive.

It's amazing how just a simple set of idents can take you back to a time and a place in your life. From roughly age 9 to age 13, I would see these day in, day out. I recall being home from school due to illness, and seeing the 'salsa' ident which was always the daytime ident. The 'nightclub' ident was always before Top of the Pops, and I link the 'acrobatic' ident to the 6:30 local news. Surprisingly powerful memories :')

I prefer these to the ones we have now but i prefer the globe bbc 1 to any other

@ROCKSOLID19 Search KZbin for..... "State One - Forever And A Day (Vox Off) [18]" It was commercially available on CD, so you should be able to find it somewhere online, either on sale or as a torrent. Or you could easily rip it straight from KZbin and convert it, if you have the right software and knowhow.

A nice tribute to these distinctive idents. I think that they were life expired and I am pleased that BBC 1 have decided to withdraw them!.

The rhythm and movement idents. These came after the balloon idents. The idents that BBC 1 have now know as the circle idents need to go! Bring back thees or the balloon idents

Everyone said they hated them when they replaced the balloon. Personally I don't really like any of them ones, the one with the retro music was good, reminded me of the Nintendo 64 game Goldeneye.

They took them away because they were the second worst bbc one idents ever (the 1963-2002 globe being the worst). The circle idents are the best bbc one idents ever and deserve to last 40 years like the globe
