the late Benjamin Lo-Fi would play Quest in the mid-80s with so much glee that he'd sometimes forget he had cheese on toast under the grill. Itr was one of his favourite games, even though he didn't do so well at it. Oddly, it informed part of his cutting-edge novella, How To Become A Crack Addict. Who'd have thought? Thanks for the upload. Long live cheese on toast.

@mikeabc2 I similarly "finished" the game many times then spent ages trying to figure what to do with the wand to actually finish. There was a kind of logic to it in the end with "X marks the spot", and they had to make it somewhat tricky as I recall there being a prize on offer for the person to complete it. This was the very first game I played on our brand new BBC B with dual floppy drive. Kept me amused for days :)

A classic. Just loved busting out of jail by setting the bed on fire.

Wow! This was a cool game :) I never did work out how to get past the witch. Tried throwing water at her but she kept jumping out the way, and I usually ended up stuck down the well or drowning cos I wasn't holding the aqualung

Argh. Now I've got the theme music, The Sorcerer's Apprentice, running round my head.

this was back in the days when smooth sideways scrolling was seen as a cool thing.

Back then this game felt huge, like there was a big sprawlilng world that I wasn't old/good enough to get to, and each new discovery was a thrill. Reaching the yellow guards was like finding El Dorado. Easy to say "they don't make them like that anymore" but mostly it's for good reason. There're many elements of some of these games I'd like to see in a comtemporary game, though. Things are too overdone and in-your-face now, rife with gimmicks. I miss the old exploration styles.
