This was the 1st Adventure/rpg Computer game i ever saw or played ! I believe it was out on the C64 ? as well or was it the Zx Spectrum ?

Is this a game or is it just a buggy Ceefax page? Hard to tell! x) I remember the time this type of thing seemed to us as wondrous as Skyrim and suchlike - many many orders of magnitude greater in gaming depth, breadth, design, technology etc - appear to today's gaming buffs. It's all relative. These older, graphically-limited, simpler games possess a great charm: whereas modern games wow the player with a complete, endlessly-detailed world where every leaf and every sinew is painstainkingly rendered, endless choices for multifarious tactics, combos, complex skillsets etc are offered up.. these old C64/ BBC Micro jobbies appeal more to the imagination of the individual player. In that sense, paradoxically, the freedom of the gaming realm is greater as it is mostly left to the player's imagination. Less is more, to quote a cliché. Having said all that, watching this vid made me laugh out loud, seeing the player's text commands foiled again and again with the computer's frustrating "I don't understand"! Hilarious, especially, when the player is beset with an elf in one direction, a troll in the other and he can't fight back, eventually being casually informed "you are dying"! Now *that's* gaming! xD

I hated that string elf, loved this game but remember never getting anywhere with it... endless ‘I don’t understand’
