I've remembered that pigeon animation and kazoo-based tune for nearly fifty years, since I was a small child. I knew it was part of a feature on Nationwide but I only finally put it into context with an internet search a couple of days ago.

You may remember (or have seen) episodes of Dr Who using the CSO system to blue-screen backgrounds rather than build sets. Very rarely did that work well with a shimmering effect around the actors where the background was superimposed. This did work for this piece done in the mid 70s. The probable failing here is the fact the policeman is unable to sit down as the chair may not have been actually there.

Ive seen Richard Stilgoe sing live with the students from his centre for disabled people wanting to do theatre. Saw him and met him briefly at Royal Opera House.

@crazyclive Just seen this! Eek! , Richard was a lovely person very friendly and interested in hearing how much I loved his work at Orpheus Centre and his tv work. I got a bit starstruck though as hes ones of my theatre heroes.
