I guarantee if the London bombings had occurred a day or two before the IOC vote Paris would have won.

The answer to the question at the beginning of the news of the London Games being awarded to London in 2012 concerning whether world leaders would deliver on climate change and Africa 16 years later in 2021 is a very simple one indeed and only needs one word - NO. Despite all the years of hot air and rhetoric about both, Africa remains very poor mired in so many problems like corruption, poverty and an ever increasing population and carbon emissions have not been cut and fossil fuels remain the main source of energy for civilization and will likely remain so for at least the foreseeable future, if not longer.

At the beginning of my comment, I meant to say Olympic, not London! I apologize for the error.

It's funny to think how much things changed just between the time of the announcement, and the time that the games actually happened. I know the Olympics has to work on a long timescale, but even so. And then how different things are now compared with where they were at the time of the 2012 Olympics. It really does drive home how long ago it was now.

A great moment, but tragedy ensues after the terrorist attacks on London the next day. But still, that's a good choice. From India

10 years on from the London games and the legacy is non-existant, people are in more financial difficulties and there are sports/leisure centers being closed down everywhere because of the costs, good going "great" britain.
