I was 12 years old at the time and living in the UK from the US and went to school there. Use to love listening to Radio 1 countdown.

One of the best DJs who ever did the top 40, really slick at that rundown

I use to be a massive fan of the chart show on BBC Radio 1 in the 80's/90's, Bruno Brookes made the chart show excited and I continue to listen when Mark Goodier took over when Bruno Brookes left the station. Happy days.

Although 7 October was the week ending chart date, this Top 40 show was actually broadcast Sunday 1 October 1989.

Bruno Brookes was so underrated on the UK top 40. Too bad he got axed on the bases of his age in the mid 90s

Yeah, over the hill at 36!

It was the controller (at the time) had this notion that in order to make the station appear hip that any dj over 30 had, yet Pete tong, Mark goodier and Steve Wright were exempt from the axe.... Although wright did leave on his own accord

@@malant2719 Matthew Bannister actually kept Bruno on a little longer than he wanted. He was due to be sacked at the end of 1994 but Steve Wright suddenly quit the breakfast show and bruno had a large audience between 4 and 7am. Once Chris Evans arrived, Bruno was replaced by Dave Pearce.

Bruno Invented and Pioneered Internet Radio. And Ambient Music systems for Stores, choosing the Music to match the Items being sold. How do you think He can afford a Mansion and a Giant Fishing Lake In Southern Ireland, And still broadcasts from there. Bet You didn't know that?.

@@malant2719 Yet John Peel continued to work for Radio 1 until he died - but would still be doing so if he hadn’t - his show would probably fit into 6 Music’s schedule - and Anne Nightingale - she’s now in her 80s and still not giving up!

Does anybody have the Top 40 countdown from somewhere in August 1994 when Bruno (or was it Mark Goodier?) played the full unedited track of Nine Inch Nails' "Closer" which contained the chorus "I Wanna F**k You Like an Animal" but had to cut the song earlier in order to avoid offending listeners.

He also played Rage against the machine - Killing In the name, and Radioheads - Creep In full. Whoops!.

Hello mate Looking for some help here Someone over on haven forums said you were someone who may be able to help me, but alas I can't get back now because the forums have closed. I am looking for recordings of the official chart show between 2010 and 2014. I am especially interested in June 2013 onwards and September 2014 onwards for personal reasons. Any help would be greatly appreciated, I used to trade with someone many many years ago called Phil Yates but I lost his email in a move and have never been able to find him since. I have a massive collection of charts from 1978 right through to the present day to trade, and would also pay a sensible amount for these shows. Any help would be greatly appreciated as with digitalspy now gone I don't have many places to ask for help. Also looking for specific missing shows between 85 and 2004, any help appreciated Thanks Rob

Hi Rob. I used to tape the charts every week religiously from 1985 to the early 90s, but I only have a few now. 3 to be exact. They all got lost over time Im afraid. Sorry I can't help you out matey. But..... I would be interested in what you currently have, especially from the 80s.
