BBC rejects Emily Maitlis criticism

The BBC has dismissed claims by Emily Maitlis of "Tory cronyism" at the broadcaster.
Delivering the MacTaggart Memorial Lecture at the Edinburgh TV Festival, the former presenter said the broadcaster's objectivity should be questioned because it had employed "an active agent of the Conservative party" on its board.
Maitlis appeared to be referring to former Downing Street communications director Sir Robbie Gibb, who joined the BBC Board in May 2021.
Charlotte Moore, the BBC's chief content officer, told Sky News the BBC's impartiality was not in question.

To put into context, The BBC is currently headed by a former Conservative councillor, regulated by a Conservative Peer, chaired by a Conservative Party donor, and whose CEO is the partner of the Conservative Director of Communications. Robbie Gibb was in charge of the BBC Political output during the time of Referendum and is well known as a hard Brexiteer. He is one of the people who was involved in the set up of GB News. The BBC goes well out of its way to avoid any mentions of Brexit as being a contributing factor to the issues we are experiencing.

Private Eye as well as other publications have been hinting at right-wing bias in the BBC News department for some time. When many 55 Tufton Street Doublespeak (alternative truth) merchants, such as the Tax Payers Alliance and the IEA, were brought in as credible commentators along with the already welcomed journalists from the Sun, Express, Mail and Telegraph (sadly having turned toxic pre Brexit), the rot began to spread.
