MakoEducation worked with a group of gifted and talented students from Broughton Hall High School (Liverpool). We provided a project designed to get the students ready for the BBC News School Report day.
The project consisted of four training sessions designed to get students ready for the BBC News School Report live day. During these sessions the students got hands on researching, writing scripts, performing, filming and editing their news reports.
The students used iPads to film their reports and edited all their videos in iMovie on iMacs.
On the BBC News School Report live day the students had to put everything they had learnt into practice, finding and creating video news reports for their 2pm broadcast deadline.
The group did a fantastic job and made some very interesting news reports. By the end of this project the students had learn a lot of new media skill as well as skills in working in a team and to a deadline.
Quote from Emma Antrobus -- Teacher at Broughton Hall High School
"Phew! What an exciting day we had students from years 8, 10 and 12 worked really hard on BBC School Report News Day 2013. Sean and Ian from Mako Education really did make the whole process run smoothly from beginning to end. Using iPads students have developed lots of really useful skills, including filming techniques and using iMovie to edit and most importantly everyone had a great day and we were really pleased with the results,"
