Takes me back. Our family had a VCR in 1983 and I used to record these school programmes while at work even though I had left school 5 years before. They were so interesting. Cheers.

Before our high streets were charity shops chains Luxury stores and shops aimed for rich tourists and foreign students. Not a Zero hour contract in sight.

"In some stores the products sell themselves." This is true - Only the other day I was in Asdas and a piece of Brie tapped me on the shoulder and said "Hey, man - I'm yours for 50p !"

😂😂😂 In Tesco on Monday, I noticed a plum, pineapple and a banana on the corner of the counter, obviously looking for punters to buy them. The pineapple was being far too fruity.

Even now in 2024 I do feel very awkward about leaving a shop like that without buying something, having tried stuff on. I can relate.

20th century objects being sold in a 19th century environment. I don't remember Dixons looking like this - our local one just looked like a modern style shop.

Let's give Claire some tips in basic service....when you take the drinks to the customers smile and say "Here you go, is there anything else I can get for you ?"

I didn't know Dixons used to trade-ins on cameras...so he offered that guy £35.00 for that camera he wanted to trade in, but the new camera he wanted cost £65.95, so he almost spent another £35 anyway !

Ahh when markets were proper markets, i used to live in leeds which had one of the best markets in Britain if not Europe, but councils have sky rocketed rents and drove out the good retailers.

I am looking for a Going to Work episode from approx 1979-1981 which showed engineering apprenticeships in the 3 armed forces. Anyone got a copy please?

I doubt that Dixons would have anyone on the staff as knowledgeable as they had to be then, plus if you went in for a particular bit of tech, you most likely get some part timer saying 'Oh, I don't know about that, maybe you can get a App on your phone that will be what you're looking for, if you're not happy with your phone, we got a large range just over here' and then they leave you gazing upon the latest smart devices.

Looking back now,it's another world. I live in America now and it's a lost Britain, before the rot set it.

Tbh I imagine Americans are saying exactly the same thing about their country lol 😅. Given the choice though I’d rather stay in UK where yes there’s crime but on a way lower level than USA - particularly gun crime 😬
