As it turned out, this was the last new episode of _Science Workshop_ to be produced. The series would continue to be repeated until 1989. Still nice of Lilian Evans to make a brief return after going on maternity leave though.

That’s a good interview with Tim Hunkin.

Great to see some footage of Tim Hunkin before The Secret Life of Machines started 5 years later, I thought that looked like one of his models in the last programme. His YT channel is great source of entertainment (and so is this one!).

Election Call was on BBC1 from 9.05 to 10.00 for a few weeks so the early schools programmes were on 2 and Schools started on 1 at 10.00.

When the cricket or tennis started up in 1983 they would have a couple programmes on 1 in the morning and 2 in the afternoon. On what appears to be the last day of BBC Schools in 1983 (24/6/83) there appear to have only been 2 schools programmes, one on each channel.

Finally I found out who did the famous SW music.

Do you by any chance have (or have you posted) the very final BBC1 schools sign-off from summer term 1983, i.e. the last one ever on BBC1? I guess it would be a very rare thing to have.
@BruceDanton-xw6eg3 ай бұрын
It would be too i am sure.
@80sandretrogubbins253 ай бұрын
@@BruceDanton-xw6eg It turns out that the final day of BBC Schools on BBC1 was split between BBC1 (morning) and BBC2 (afternoon). Barely 30 minutes of programmes in total. So the signoff would have been on BBC2.

@@80sandretrogubbins25 yes I see there too thank you. Interesting of course as well.

And I guess that was the last time the dots were seen too there as when schools went to bbc2 that September they did not use them anymore too.
@80sandretrogubbins253 ай бұрын
@@BruceDanton-xw6eg Given that there was only one schools programme on BBC2 that day, maybe they didn't bother with the dots. Won't know until someone finds it.
