He only really ever broke character once.... "OUHH YESS!" when Jimmy was losing to Hendry in 1992. Jimmy fluked a red, and Ted just couldn't contain himself. He then remembered he was the Whisperer, and got back down to earth 20 seconds later. Back to soothing voicing. Find the clip and hear it. He was class all the way.

Respect should go both ways: A former pro who wishes to become an accomplished general commentator and a wordsmith commentator who wishes to give technical shot selection advice. However, then you have the unique Ted Lowe! As John Virgo said (jokingly) "knows nothing about snooker, but has a great voice". Is loving a great voice a shallow admiration? Probably. But I do, because It's about much more than a voice.
