Chris and Debbie act with such good grace and humour in this clip, faced with so many inane & insensitive comments from a presenter (Noel Edmonds) who I thought at the time was always really annoying. And then the BBC / Jimmy Saville fawning lowers the tone even further. Makes my skin crawl. These two artists together crafted some of the most perfect pop songs in history and this is how we treated them. The UK owes them a huge apology.

In some regards this all happened at a great time for her, well into her 30s, a seasoned vet, beyond the kind of exploitation a girls 20 years her junior might've endured, she'd met a thousand Noels by this point too so these kind of 'gigs' were a breeze, she knew what kids expected of her and delivered with grace

She started as a Playboy Bunny! That applies to her! And I love Edie Sedwick i.e., who was before her time, and there was no biggest case of Exploitation! Blondie were in the scene with Andy Warhol! He was an exploiter! But Debbie made something Great, what did Edie, but posing, doing drugs and being confused???! with all due respect to Edie! She could have been as great as any other person! The blame is on Andy and her own Family, and the world that works that way! in that case, and you're right, that is wrong! but... Debbie chose to not be exploited! She went through that... you only know her already famous!

Kids were so much more relatable and normal back then, I was 3 years old in `79 and was nuts about Harry.

Some cringeworthy moments there....jimmy saville references especially. How rude was Noel Edmunds to Chris Stein and couldn’t they at least have managed incoming calls to get at least one for him rather than all to Debbie. Blondie were not the most talkative band to interview but still you would have thought there would be a little better research by Noel before. Shocked really at how patronising Noel was to Chris about his camera, even the veiled insults about working out. I used to like Noel but here he came across as arrogant and controlling. Chris I thought did very well to ignore obvious put downs. Debbie looking at stunning but you can see why the band started to get irritated when it was all about her. It wasn’t her fault though that she looked that good. Never thought I would say this but maybe you can be too good looking so it’s a burden. I wonder if she ever got to find out who her natural parents were, if she got DNA tested. I can see why she may have believed she was Marilyn’s daughter at one time.

Edmonds is putting down Chris to peacock in front of Debbie, although I wouldn't place much weight on the exercise thing - back in the day, not-exercising wasn't the capital sin that has now become, I bet Noel didn't exercise either.

@@Natalie-gb8tt Without any of them, there would be no Blondie. All the attention was on Debbie for obvious reasons, but they all played their part to varying degrees.
