@@liukin95 Lets! Absolutely fabulous meet. Bogi swept everything including floor with her too brief Bolero routine. Pasca was rightfully crowned UB champ, and the judges even noticed Maria Neculita superior beam work. Zsofia litterally lost the gold by downgrading her 3rd pass from qualification. The 0.2 would be enough to put her on top.
@saragrant9749 Жыл бұрын
There were a couple of places where she lost points. On beam her double spin was (rightly) downgraded because she put her foot down BEHIND rather than in front. She also downgraded her acro series because she was a little off at the beginning of it. On floor her first leap wasn’t close to 180, which was costly plus her last tumble landed short. Any one of those discounted would have at least tied her with Gadirova.

I think the downgrade by Gadirova has been smart, creates a far cleaner looking routine. It amazes me that the rest of the athletes have still not caught up with Gadirova on floor after the last 18 months, and haven't clocked that they need to actually dance and nail those leaps if they want to not give away so much to her.

I'm not sure it's a permanent downgrade. Since worlds, she has been nursing an injured foot that still isn't right and didn't even compete AA at the British a few weeks back. Was quite surprised to see her in AA here. Totally agree with your comments re dance and leaps.

This gold is NO LESS spectacular or convincing just because a country of butchers and performance enhancing drug users wasn’t there. That is selfish, arrogant, and disrespectful thinking to diminish such an accomplishment just because one country wasn’t there. How childish.

@@wkim22 in gymnastics? None yet- that have been caught. Over the course of the past twenty years in a plethora of other sports? Too many to mention or count. Here’s a short list. Kamila Valieva is the most recent to test positive. 2014 Winter Olympics- Nineteen Russians disqualified for performance enhancing drugs. London 2012- 50 Russian athletes tested positive. 2016- banned from the Paralympic Games entirely, banned by certain sports jn regular Olympics after video of athletes bragging about steroid use was revealed. 2018- banned from the Winter Olympics, athletes competed independently. Curling bronze medalist Alexander Krushelnitsky failed his drug test. In 2014 a report revealed that more than 1,000 Russian athletes were involved in the state sanctioned doping. If you look at the history of the Olympic Games, Russia has had the vast majority of positive drug tests and have lost nearly 50 medals as a result. You can also read a number of articles that detail athletes who switched urine samples to avoid being caught. With a track record like this, Russia most certainly does not deserve to be allowed to compete at the Olympics- even as independent athletes. Perhaps a complete ban will teach the country to participate in an honest and fair fashion. Oh wait, that’s not in their makeup because winning is all that matters to them.

@@wkim22 A point on the whole drug testing thing.... since the whole Raducan thing (/not thing) in 2000, where is the transparency on drug testing in gymnastics? There are a plethora of reasons why certain countries who persistently dope in other sports might want to use puberty delaying or "slimming" (to put it kindly) drugs in gymnastics to back up state programs but there is very little data when you look for it on out of competition testing etc. When you look at countries who have been proven to have doped at a national level generally in sports (organised by the state not rogue individuals on the make)...... I would rephrase the question. 1) How many Olympic level athletes from that country have been caught doping? 2) How many have been tested, at what frequency and who did the testing (was it the national sports agency from that country)? 3) Where is the detail on the testing program from the FIG? (Number of athletes tested from each country, number of positive tests, who was reponsible for the testing? If it's still RUSADA in Russian gymnastics taking the tests then..........
