I feel like there's a Thirteenth Doctor spirit that I wanted to keep in her final moments. I wanted her to still be authentic to herself. She has a moment of 'Ahh, I don't want this to be over', but she's a Doctor who goes into every challenge with positivity and generosity, and that's how she is to the end. In my opinion, Chibnall just didn’t know how to write Doctor Who. I wish we would have gotten one series of Jodie’s Doctor under RTD, just to see what she could have done with a competent writer at her side. Say what you want about RTD, but he knew how to write characters and put together a story arch that built up until the finale. It’s seems that this finale mainly relied on nostalgia of seeing the previous Doctors and companions again, the storyline didn’t make much sense and was once again just fluff. The Daleks and cyber time lords for some reason team up, to destroy the earth with volcanos, and then for some reason the master puts himself into the Doctors body, then he’s left on a planet, then he’s instantly put back into his own body in 1900’s Russia because for some reason the Master is pretending to be Rasputin, who puts himself into old paintings for another weak reason. Then the Doctor uses the metal planet thing, which is run from the energy of a space alien we’ve never heard of, and didn’t add anything to the plot other than to destroy the metal planet thing. Then the master appears, the Doctor gets hit by an energy beam, then they eat ice cream and she regenerates…. It was just a mash of loosely connected events that resembles a story. I genuinely enjoyed seeing the previous Doctor interact with past companions, but thats about it. Just my opinion.

0:26 I actually really like that line. Jodie is far from my favorite Doctor, but quite literally that is ONLY because of the stories and episodes she was written and featured in. She's felt mostly two-dimensional for the time she's been the doctor, but I could feel the heart in that.

I didnt watch a single episode she was in, and I never will. The only reason a female doctor was cast is because the Showrunner would not accept the job unless they cast a female as the doctor. Yeah, I don't hate Jodie as the Doctor, and I really think she could've been amazing. Chibnall or whatever his name is did her a disservice with the writing. The doctors of past had mysteries and things running throughout that made it great, take bad wolf, Doctor Donna, River Song, Amy's crack in the wall, the bees disappearing. It was the plot lines like that that I loved about doctor who. However, I feel like they lost that spark before Jodie. I did love Peter Capaldi as the doctor, but it doesn't feel the same as the Tennant run watching it.

I gave whittaker a chance, but most episodes hurt to watch due to the blatant animosity to the previous continuity, and in some degree felt like the narrative of the episodes and monologs where talking down to the viewers. Like every ep was some sort of environmental or humanitarian crisis. Which don't get me wrong, CAN be done right, but like I said they came across in a way that seemed condescending to the viewers. I'm actually worried they're bringing Tennant back... because the writing has gutted the show so badly, it either feels like a blatant backtrack begging for old fans to come back, OR they're just bringing him back to ruin even more of the legacy as a further middle finger to older fans. Doctor Who thrives in the Monster of the Week genre - something RTD does very well and Moffat and Chiball don’t (as showrunners, Moffat is a great MotW writer when just writing an episode at a time and 11’s best episodes are the MotW style episodes). Okay, not a huge fan of the Chibs era, but I have to admit, 13's final words talking to the next Doctor, "Tag, you're it." is actually pretty great, and fitting for her character, so props on going out on a high note!
@taylrthegreat2 жыл бұрын
I actually think that her last words were perfect for her doctor, and i think that the doctor whoever i'm going to be was a direct foreshadow to everyone thinking it'd be ncuti appearing. Also, also I think that secretly either the Neil Patrick Harris character is the one controlling this regeneration or that Tag, You're It was because she noticed that Tennant's doctor had some unfinished business and wanted to playfully give him a turn again. It seems like something her doctor would definitely do and it's currently my secondary head cannon about it

Did Russel write this last scene for her or something? It’s the only convincingly food acting/line she’s had all her seasons! And it’s damn good. “Tag. You’re it!”
@SirDanFilmsUnltd Жыл бұрын
Russell wrote the triple what, Tennant suggested adding “I know these teeth”, and everything before was written by Chibnall. It is worth noting however that the speech, originally written by Chibnall, was: “The blossomiest blossom…well then, Doctor whoever I’m about to be…tag, you’re it! That’s the sad thing - I really wanna know what happens next. I bet it’s gonna be brilliant.” The editor then suggested cutting and rearranging to get the speech as shown in the episode, and Chibnall approved the change.

What I've been thinking about recently is how in both the classic and new series, the state of the Doctor before regenerating has differed. In the classic series, he was mostly on death's doorstep before he changed but in the new series, the Doctor can still stand and even take a wander.

RTD likes to mess with the audience. I hope that's the case this time, I'd really much rather have this tennant be an in-between incarnation as a result of the toymaker possibly messing with the doctor's regeneration, or perhaps what the master did to her this episode. idk, i just much prefer each doctor to be new.

From what's been said Ncuti Gatwa is gonna be the 15th doctor and David Tennant will be the 14th, I believe it's probably because Judy Whitaker absolutely sunk most of the view rate of doctor who. So they decided to bring back a strong well known character to bring the view rate back up for Ncuti Gatwa. I'm not saying he couldn't do that himself as Ncuti Gatwa is an incredible actor. but the BBC wants to play it safe

I just love Doctor Who. I will miss Jodie dearly, but I feel so excited to watch Ncuti.
