I doubt it, no drinking and staging it in winter will put off most Europeans
@Fete_Fatale7 жыл бұрын
It's the Qatar World Cup that's going to be held in Winter, not the Russian one ... so having it in Winter is a definite advantage - plus, any [Northern hemisphere] supporters would miss a good chunk of their own Winter. I can't see how that would disappoint too many Europeans.

All it takes is a few ballsy and big enough FA's. Think about it; if the English FA, along with the German, French, Italian, Dutch, Portugese and perhaps the Brazilian and Argentinian splits from the FIFA we would be set. A worldcup without these nations is not marketable -. at least not in the way FIFA has grown accustomed to. Please let these/our nations split from the 2018 and 2022 monstrosities.
@rikku4president10 жыл бұрын
But who's to stop the new FA becoming corrupt? There's a hell of a lot of money involved in the sport, and the people who decide where the money goes tend to want a bit themselves - it is a nice idea but I fear the same thing will just end up happening...
@kisbie10 жыл бұрын
What you're pverlooking there is that none of those organisations are really able to give a shit. The English FA offered bribes too. They were just rubbish ones. I mean, are you seriously suggesting the Brazilian FA are in some way morally superior to FIFA? They're a shambolic organisation at the best of times, as we all saw this summer. All those countries you mention have been happy to play on FIFA's 'unofficial' terms before. (Look at how Germany got the 2006 World Cup. Go back to Argentina 1978 even.) They can't suddenly turn round and cry foul now.
@Niceaux_B10 жыл бұрын
kisbie Most these nations have voted against the reign of Blatter - who secures his place bribing micro FA's across the globe. It's not a case of them agreeing with FIFA's "unofficial" terms I think it's more a case of them playing along, and making the best of the situation. I do agree it would be hypocritical but it's still the best solution to get get rid of the current corrupt FIFA( that I can think of). Every alternative can not be worse than the current situation - where power hungry corrupt geriatrics are making an absolute mockery of global football.
@kisbie10 жыл бұрын
SarcoZQ There is one other major party involved in this, the European superclubs. Indeed, one of those micro FAs - namely the 2022 hosts - have been busy over the last few years establishing high-level connections across the European game. UEFA are actually far more likely to fall before FIFA does.

If Britain wants to handle these cases it will have to imprison FIFA officials. If we cannot get them on corruption charges I an sure that they have committed plenty of other crimes. For instance it is unusual for people to pay income tax on bribes.

Forgive me... the FA covers English football, the S.F.A. Scottish football, the W.F.A. Welsh football, the F.A.N.I. football in Northern Ireland those F.A.s speak for themselves in the sport of Football, If it was in the context of the OLYMPICS well you could say "Britain" then..

I'm always amused by this.. So many people actually seem to think the England bidding team never resorted to schmoozing or bribery... "Hey Mr Warner.. have you met our future king yet?" And of course England would have resisted VERY strongly FIFA's number 1 condition. "We don't pay any tax in the winning country!"
@alexander97033 жыл бұрын
Yeah, it's really obvious your irritated not amused. Prince William is President of the FA. The Duchess of Kent is the patron of Wimbledon. This is literally what the Royal Family does in our country. Of course England never resorted to bribery, it's a crime, it would have been reported in the press, and those who did it would get punished. And FIFA don't pay their taxes in Zurich, are you actually serious? they don't domicile at whichever country is hosting the next world cup
