BBC One closing down before 12.15am = I was told by a BBC engineer who worked at BBC Television Centre that the 12.15am close down time was used on around 5 out of 7 days a week on BBC One back then, to ensure they did not have to pay extra money, as once 12.15am was hit, the extra pay came into force.

@@stickytapenrust6869 Yes, as did every other ITV region in 1985. 24 hour ITV broadcasting would kick off at Yorkshire Television in 1986 and by October 1988 all of ITV was 24 hours.
