Eric Morecambe was a legend, When we were young the Morecambe & Wise show was a must see, Especially at Christmas A national institute. Those days in the 70's we only had 3 TV channels and they would pull in 20m+ viewers each week. His routines with Ernie were amazing and had you literately rolling around on the floor laughing and the guests they had were queuing up to be on their shows. Look here on KZbin and see for yourselves how great he was and how he and Ernie were the best British Double Act by far, Can't believe its over 30 yrs since he passed away. True Legend

The best tribute I can pay is that I was 6 when the 70s began and 16 when they ended, and on Christmas Day my favourite part wasn’t presents 🎁 or food 🥘 but the Morecambe and Wise Christmas Show. R.I.P. Eric, Ernie and Eddie, and thank you for all the wonderful entertainment 🙏🏻

The disappearing baby (Louise Brown) was extraordinary. It turned out her father murdered her because she was disabled, and his brother helped dispose of the body. They were both jailed in 1985. And in 1998 (both now free), the father murdered his brother

Remember seeing this on the news and, to this day, the only time I've heard of someone's death with an "Oh, NO". Upon hearing of his death, one of his children's friends - for whom Eric performed various tricks - said, 'Does this mean there'll be no more magic?' Sadly, yes 'That thing about sunshine, love and laughter. It's ever so nice. We shan't forget it.

I remember exactly where I was when I first heard the news of Eric Morecambe's death: my family and I were in a caravan on holiday in Dorset, and Eric's passing was the lead story on the 8am news on BBC Radio 4. @digitalramyun
@digitalramyun 8 жыл бұрын
bonnie brindle I don't remember hearing of Tommy Cooper's death so directly, but I made the mistake not so long ago, of watching his final performance out of misplaced curiosity. It's most unsettling - not a Pythonesque "comedy heart attack", but something like watching a toy's batteries run flat - and not helped by the knowledge you are watching someone literally dying in front of your eyes.

That's crazy. You'll probably never forget it. There are many rumours as to how he died and why. It's so disrespectful to keep probing at a deceased person. I bet it's hard for his family to go online without see theories and speculations on him. Oh God do you remember when Diana died? You couldn't really watch anything else on television as it was fully focused on her.

Zola Budd? Remember her? And I wonder what became of that baby who would now be approximately 40 years old. As I remember, Eric passed within a couple of weeks of Tommy Cooper. I still vividly remember watching that 'Live From Her Majestys.' Tommy collapsed whilst 'pulling the big things from his pockets' routine. At first he seemed alright as he said to the girl assisting him 'i'm alright.' Next minute he sank down so he was half on stage and half behind the curtain, and it sounded like he was snoring loudly. It seemed a bit strange yet it was hard not to think it was all part of his act. That was the kind of thing he would do. Sadly, those were to be his last moments. Other acts had to go on stage and carry on despite the fact that Tommy's size 12's were still visible to the audience. Sad.

The Party Political Broadcast was to be the following evening (Tuesday) at 9pm. The schedules had changed for Tuesday due to the tribute programme, The 1971 Christmas Special Morecambe and Wise show being shown. The programme Dolly Parton in London from London's Dominion Theatre was taken off and other scheduled programmes re timed.

Whoa, a baby went missing and it was the THIRD item in the news?! I'm not saying that the passing of Eric Morcambe wasn't a top story, but priorities! That is a very morally poor decision to keep a story like that waiting for over five minutes, when the situation is current and potentially helpful to report on. Unbelievable!

@97channel Жыл бұрын
@ I'm almost persuaded to agree with you. I'm thinking though that someone missing could be absolutely anywhere, which does break into national importance as it could help find them if people across the country are alerted to it. I also think of the Madeline McCann case, and how that dominated top billing on national news for weeks, despite the event occurring abroad and would surely have had a very limited effect on helping to find her. Interesting information on the outcome of that story, by the way. What a terrible thing.
