Just watching Simon Dee again, it’s not surprising he was so popular. His relaxed manner put guests at ease and he was entertaining. Contrast his technique to the “in your face” presenters of today.

I'd really love to see more episodes of Dee Time. What an awful mistake that they were wiped !! 1967 broadcasting media history gone down the drain!! Bother!!

Lionel Jeffries. I have Chitty Chitty Bang Band on DVD, not Mary Poppins. Sorry he got sick recording that great scene. I originally saw it at the theatre at the age of 4.

When Jonathan Ross first aired The Last Resort, so many years ago now in the late 80s. He was called wacky and original. At the time I discussed it with my friends; and said I thought he reminded me of somebody else.....turns out to be Simon Dee. Ross would have been about 8 yrs old watching this.....

I remember this programme, long time ago, he was also an actor, always thought he was fake, real name was Cyril Nicholas Henty-Dodd.

Pity about his dropping off in popularity, due to David Frost being envious of him. He died far too young. He was a great talent, ahead of his time.

Didn't they show another episode of Adam Adamant lives "The League of Uncharitable Ladies" too?

I remember in the 1970s his decline was still kind of scandalous and talked about in hushed tones. And he was viewed as extremely edgy. Reality - he was a forerunner of today's more relaxed interviewer style moving away from the starchy approach of the 1950s.

I vaguely remember this . I think it went out live on a Saturday early evening. Crap apart from Susannah York to be honest.

1968 we'd had four years of a Labour government Unemployment was very high and pensioners were treated like shit. I wish people would take note LABOUR ARE USELESS AT RUNNING THE ECONOMY !!!!
@johnchubb17813 жыл бұрын
A quick Google reveals that just over half a million Brits were registered unemployed in May 1968. When Margaret Thatcher was PM that figure was over 3 million at one point. But don't let awkward things like facts get in the way of your rant.
