The test of collision avoidance looks like it was "Hold the accelerator down and see if the car stops" - if that's the case, of course the Tesla didn't stop... it's not designed to intervene if it's not in autonomous mode. Doesn't seem like a very fair test...
@Pete_YT3 жыл бұрын
Yes I suspect the test was designed to try and make Tesla’s look unsafe whereas the reality is Tesla’s are by far the safest car on the road, both for passengers and pedestrians.
@sko1beer3 жыл бұрын
I thought Tesla is going to use camera only and doesn’t have a radar so it can’t win in this test in the dark no matter what
@awebuser59143 жыл бұрын
Bullshit... Passive safety is just that, passive until you need it, but on ALL THE TIME. This is pure and simple a sensor capability failure.

@@recliningbuddha Bullshit Elon-spew... Elon wants camera-only so that FSD can be retrofitted to the entire existing fleet, absolutely NO other reason. In the end it will be a dismal failure and FSD will never make it past L2 geofenced capability and even that may be marginal. Elon rolled the dice and lost, in the long-run he may actually be terminated from any executive role in Tesla due to his incompetence.

Great show again. Does BBC Click have any competition? It's got to be the best technology programme out there but honestly I'm not sure if there are many alternatives. Combined with BBC Technology news app, and the magazine 'Professional Engineer' from the IMechE, I feel like I can stay pretty up to date with emerging trends in technology.

Tesla has ditched radar and is now only using cameras. This vision only approach seems to be industry leading if you see the many youtube videos on the latest Beta Testing software eg., Tesla Daily youtuber Rob Maurer has some good examples. So I'm curious to know if this Tesla was in 'autopilot' mode or was not; and what level of software was it using?
@awebuser59143 жыл бұрын
So-called "Autopilot" is utterly irrelevant, these systems are designed to be on ALL THE TIME as driver ASSISTS (you know, the driver is momentarily distracted, etc.) The most basic cars have collision avoidance as standard these days, this is simply a massive failure of sensor blindness.

@@recliningbuddha So much is true, the thing we are counting on is that the computer can react way faster than any human. That fact is the saving grace of the technology. An interesting study would involve comparing the ratio between the AI's choosing to break vs.the one that choose to go around. It would be interesting to see how the other AI's behind the one experiencing the event would respond, compare that data to human drivers. Just for fun.

Trust BBC to trash Tesla. They have industry leading autonomous driving. Clearly this test was fixed. Expect a lawsuit from Tesla on misrepresentation yet again.
@Pete_YT3 жыл бұрын
Not the first time. Top Gear intentionally made an episode on the Tesla Roadster where they made it look like the battery ran out before it actually did. Tesla had the computer telemetry and could prove it was faked. I guess the bosses at the BBC were doing favors for their mates in the fossil fuel industry down the country club.

hmm I like to know what settings were on the tesla. black painted, cold plastic body, could well be a plastic bag flying across the street and the brakes applied, could be a bad situation if it wasn't a good time to stop just for a bag and not a real person That mercedes looks horrible from behind, I don't care how efficient that is.
