Lighten up racists, just a comedy. It didn't happen, It's called "comedy". That's what most comedians do, they create stories to use as material. Try adding up the total number of stories told by every comedian, that would equal a tremendous amount of nonsense going on in the world if they were all true.
@lizsutherland27074 жыл бұрын
This bit clearly stems from Gina Yashere's experiences as a black woman experiencing microaggressions regularly. The precise details of this particular scenario may or may not be true, as stand up comedians commonly embellish or make up stories to convey a larger point (including white dudes too, believe it or not). Assuming the story is true though, Gina believed the woman was making an erroneous assumption about their first class status based on their appearance. The woman didn't state it outright, that's why it's called a microaggression. But ironically, what you have failed to pick up on is that - in a similar fashion - she didn't directly accuse the woman of being racist either. Rather she asked her why she thought they didn't belong in first class. You might even call it a microaccusation. The words race, racist, or racism were never used. Simply a baldly asked question for which the woman didn't have a good answer. Or at least one she wanted to say out loud. So why would you or this white lady think she was being falsely accused of racism? And why do you assume GY was shouting in the train car? She doesn't say that she was. If you're assuming that based on her stage and interview persona that's quite the double standard considering that the only one in the story who was shouting was the other woman.
@golderp3 жыл бұрын
It may have or might not have happened to her but it does happen most of the times. Subtle racism that Whites themselves don’t realise at times. I am a rich black man and fly business class most times. It’s always unsettling the way the air stewardess rush to check my boarding pass once I approach the lounge. You can see that expression on their face like I’ve walked up somewhere I don’t belong.

Just because a couple is in their 60s doesn't mean they have been married a long time. People divorce and remarry at all ages. Interesting that you make assumptions while being angered at the fact that people make assumptions.
@Cityweaver9 күн бұрын
Hahaha, how DARE she make a positive discrimination assumption while talking about how undignified negative discrimination assumptions are.
@Hannari-xt6nr9 күн бұрын
@@Cityweaver It is not a positive discrimination, it is an assumption, which is not necessarily true, but can be. Just like black people in first class doesn't mean they are lost, or that they are trying to cheat the system, but sometimes can be. It goes both ways. In either way it is discriminatory to make assumptions.
@Cityweaver9 күн бұрын
@Hannari-xt6nr It does go both ways, which makes it more hilarious for you to say "it's discriminatory" but argue it's not discrimination just to be argumentative. 🤣 I'm agreeing with you, but you still find some reason to "disagree". Positive discrimination like assuming that white people are more likely to have a stable, long-term relationship or that Asian Americans are academically gifted or more financially or Black folks are charitable, conservative, and community-minded may have roots in reality, but we should always strive to view people as individuals. Assuming the best about someone can make a person feel just as self-conscious as assuming the worst about them. Not every pregnant woman is happy to be, not every mother is good at being one, not every disabled person is an inspiration story for you to gush about. So you're right, positively assuming a white woman THIS crazy has maintained a solid relationship for 20-30 years?! Pish-posh. 🤣

@@makeracistsafraidagain In my generation "yellow" meant cowardly. For anyone to refer to themselves or others as a color, is the very definition of racism :-( I have a very twisted sense of humor & this woman wasn't a bit funny to me, mainly for 2 reasons, 1 she relies on racial bias in her act & 2 her entire story was telegraphed.
