This comedy show is timeless and I discover something new that sets me off into helpless giggles.All the characters are excellent at their roles and execute them percfectly.Hats off to the director as well as writer.I missed the show when it had stopped, but am overjoyed at discovering it on You Tube.❤❤❤s

The whole idea that they just speak English with a French accent to speak French or German or Italian is brilliant and for speaking English they talk with a posh accent with a “tally ho” put in, classic. But the Englishman who pretends that be a French policeman is great saying for example “good moaning I was just pissing be when I thought I’d just give you this massage” instead of “good morning I was just passing by when I thought I’d give you this message” was such a clever but simple idea and is just so funny

I wonder who decided to make the French and German characters speak English, yet the audience is supposed to pretend they're speaking French and German. Talk about suspension of disbelief. lol It's easier than trying to read subtitles .. Why did they choose the character Edith to be so much older than Rene. Edith looks like she's about 50 something, more like Rene's mother than wife, and always seems to be annoying and not very bright. Rene looks like he's only 40 at most. It does not seem likely a Frenchman like Rene would marry a woman a lot older than him.

In real life Carmen was 20 years senior. René married her because she was the prettiest girl in the street. Yvette: "I can't believe that." René: "Unbelieveble at it sound it is the true." Yvette: "Please explain." René: "She was the only girl in our street."

The original pilot show was excellent but the series went on too long ,ran out of ideas became too daft .For me the introduction of Arthur Bostroms policeman started the rot . Still each to their own !

Actually I think that Officer Crabtree was very funny,with mispronounciations which is supposed to be a parody of someone trying to learn a foreign language but doing it badly.

Ah so all the German characters spoke perfect fluent French ,whilst the British agent sent specially was floundering with school boy French ! Crude clunky comedy .As Ted Bovis once said "First rule of comedy ,It's got to be believable ".
