At almost 20 meters long, the whale shark is the largest fish in the world and, to the fishermen in the Southern Asian seas, one of the most prized in the ocean - but not because they want to catch it.

Great to see that shift in what the "value" of a whale shark looks like. Kudos to the fishermen and the country for protecting them.

Sure, if it's real. BBC like to make stuff like this up in there documentaries in order to get an emotional response. It doesn't have to be true, it just has to sell.
@theotheseaeagle
@theotheseaeagle Жыл бұрын
@@Pete_1986 lol why would they make this up? The only times they’ve been known to mess up with facts is when creating “fear porn” and then that’s only when they collaborate with Netflix (like in Our Planet when they said walruses jump of cliffs because of climate change, despite it being a natural phenomenon it was only because of Netflix that they said that)
@Pete_1986
@Pete_1986 Жыл бұрын
@TheoTheSeaEagle I already said why they would make it up. To create an emotional response. To get views. To sell. The BBC make lots of things up, not only Netflix. Remember the documentary "Wild China" where they filmed locals cockle picking on the sand and said they had been doing it sustainably for generations. It turned out they had hired locals who had never been cockle picking before and even planted the shellfish in the sand as there weren't any to begin with!
@bend5963

@@Pete_1986 why would they lie about something like this? Many populations of shark species in Asia *have* declined rapidly in recent years. That’s a fact. Take your irrational skepticism elsewhere
