Ahmad Shah Abdali Durrani : Panipat का क़ातिल या Afghanistan का हीरो? (BBC Hindi)

इस सप्ताह पर्दे पर आने वाली फ़िल्म 'पानीपत' एक ऐसी जंग पर आधारित है जिसे इतिहास की बड़ी जंगों में गिना जाता है. ये जंग आज से क़रीब 260 बरस पहले लड़ी गई थी. फ़िल्म के रिलीज़ होने से पहले ही इसे लेकर उत्साह भी है और एक तबक़ा फ़िक्रमंद भी है. हमने इतिहास की किताबों में पढ़ा है कि पानीपत की तीसरी लड़ाई मराठा क्षत्रपों और अफ़ग़ान सेना के बीच हुई थी. 14 जनवरी 1761 को हुए इस युद्ध में अफ़ग़ान सेना की कमान अहमद शाह अब्दाली-दुर्रानी के हाथों में थी. 'पानीपत' फ़िल्म में भारतीय उपमहाद्वीप और मध्य एशिया के इतिहास के एक बेहद ही अहम और निर्णायक मोड़ को दिखाया गया है. इस जंग के दूरगामी नतीजे निकले थे, जिनका असर हिंदुस्तान और अफ़ग़ानिस्तान के साथ साथ कई और देशों पर भी पड़ा था. हिंदुस्तान की कई पीढ़ियां इस जंग का ज़िक्र आने पर रोमांचित होती रही हैं. इतिहासकारों में भी इस युद्ध को लेकर बहुत दिलचस्पी रही है.

Ahmed Shah Abdali seems to be a hero not only for the Afghan people, but for the narrator as well. Here are a few facts to consider : 1) The distance from Kandahar to Panipat is 1300 km. To consider it a defensive battle for Ahmad Shah Abdali is the joke of the century. One could understand calling it defensive if the battle had been fought at Peshawar or Attock. 2) There is a saying in Punjabi which goes "Khada Pida lahe da, Baki Ahmad Shaheda", which means "what you have already eaten is yours, everything else belongs to Ahmed Shah". It basically refers to his looting raids down from Afghanistan towards the plains and return back which happened every year for several years. Considering that Punjab is a major province of Pakistan, and considering the above proverb is in Punjab, it is a joke that they have named a Missile after Ahmed Shah Abdali but that is only reflective of their warped mentality. 3) Ahmed Shah abdali is a hero for the Afghan people since he united the country and on account of his conquests. In India, the title Mahaveer (great brave or great Hero) was given to the person who conquered not others but his own senses ( look up jainism on Google). This illustrates the difference in outlook between India and some other countries) 4)The mental paucity of the narrator is shown by the fact that he objects to a 60 year old person playing a 38 year old character. I wonder if actors played only characters who were exactly their age, how many films they could act in!

It was war , it was hero for it’s nation but villain for India. He did great work for Afghanistan but his fight in India destroyed future of India. If Maratha didn’t loose , british could never concur india... but it was still a war (which was common at that time).Maratha , I feel was too ambitious who never established good rapport with Indian kings of that time like Rajpoot and that of Haryana. Post panipat war , only those who never participated in war were benefited. (British, Rajpoot and Jaat).

British never had the numbers to win Indian subcontinent, they recruited the local soldiers in their army and made contracts with local indian kings, it shows how brilliant they were from tactics and strategy perspective, so the result of this war would not have changed much, in any case Abdali was never interested in India and left after winning the battle, maratha power was also restored after few years.
