I’ve been following Josh Freese since early 2000’s first with The Vandals and then A Perfect Circle and his work with Nine Inch Nails. He will always be one of my favorites. It’s him and Danny Carey for me at the top. I’m so glad he’s been given this opportunity to continue to show the world what he’s made of

@davisjohnson7691
@davisjohnson7691 Жыл бұрын
@@radicalstanza3614 Your wrong there. Josh is more then a rock musician. He’s a professional musician. He’s the best drummer in the rock genre currently, by far. There’s no arguments there. Neil Peart is dead. Nobody can touch him on a technical level. You’d have to look to the jazz genre to find drummers who can match Josh on a technical level. In terms of musicianship, none of the other Foos come remotely close to sniffing Josh. Dave is a subpar guitar player, Taylor was a soulful, but fairly mediocre drummer (Dave is better), Pat Smear isn’t a great guitarist by any means. Back when Rush was around, that was probably the tip top of musicianship in rock music. Everyone in the band was world class at their instrument(s). Also a guy like Frank Zappa. Or a band like Dream Theater, all of them are fantastic musicians (I’d argue they were better than Rush musically everywhere except the drums, Peart is the master of rock n roll drums)

I went to Leeds Festival in 2007 and was looking forward to finally seeing Jimmy Chamberlin drum with Smashing Pumpkins live. Nine Inch Nails were on before and Josh Freese blew me away. This was post A Perfect Circle. He's always been good and it was obvious who was going to come in to fill Taylor's shoes. Josh can adapt and be whatever anyone needs him to be. He's an amazing diverse drummer. His work in the debut A Perfect Circle album is staggering, considering he's also in The Vandals.

I feel they are still grieving but its the curve back up being able to enjoy life more as time goes by which is letting them get there mojo back, back to touring most of the year, up to speed with new drummer. It never goes away but the pain does reduce with time when lost someone. I lost my dad in 2016, i remember picking up his ashes and times like these come on planet rock, and i had to pull the van over to cry. But now years later i can hear that song and think happy memories. (Although black stone cherry, things my father said can still bring a tear to my eye).

There was this melancholic vibe of them still grieving when they played at Rock am Ring, too. But at the same time they seemed as genuinely happy to play as usually only those gigs are for which being invited to the festival is a big thing. If you want to imagine it, add the fact that they played in the night.

We all knew the Churnups would be the Foo Fighters. We had read the online rumours, seen that Dave Grohl was there but the moment the logo melted from saying The Churnups into the FF logo was amazing. I missed seeing them headline as I didn't get tickets in 2017 and they had to cancel 2016. So glad I was there for this.
