I've always wondered what sex education is like in America, it doesn't start early enough and doesn't seem to be very comprehensive in certain parts. Also, I think its disgraceful how teenage fathers get exempted from the travails of teenage parenthood. Their families should hold them accountable too.

I agree - males are never part of the conversation. Adult males are responsible for about 30% of pregnancies involving a teen or adolescent girl, but we rarely talk about the violence of men. Instead,we focus on the promiscuity of teenage girls. I really think we need to start talking about the 25 and 30-year-old men who are getting teen girls pregnant.

There was a pregnancy school in Killeen, TX too. It’s a way to keep teen pregnancy out of the public eye in mainstream schools, but it’s also a way for the teens to still graduate. The students benefit greatly because the school staff also understand the issues that come with pregnancy and motherhood.

Hope the best for all these young women and their kids. When I was in high school in the 90s my state was the poorest with the highest teen pregnancy and high school dropout rates in the country. Out of 7 friends only 2 of us finished high school or got our GED and didn't have a child by 16. I've seen the devastating effects 20 years on for the young girls amd their kids. It's heartbreaking. One girl ended up with 5 children and no fathers around by 23. I hope this program changes things for these young women and their families.

@@balung it's actually a crazy story lol my friend was pregnant by a loser at age 15 in high school. She had the baby and broke up with the loser father and did a great job at staying away from him aside from exchanges of the child.....then 3 years later at age 19 she ended up getting drunk and slept with her loser ex one more time.....and then she got pregnant with TRIPLETS!😖😭. So that made 4 kids at 19. The doctors would not tie her tubes bc she was so young even though she begged them to. Few years later she met another loser, got pregnant again and by 23 she had 5 kids and the new loser left too, so it was just her and all her kids. The parents of these boys should be held to be more accountable for their own son's actions. Even teenage boys that don't care about getting a girl pregnant and then it's all on the female, always!! Kids having kids, it takes two and the parents of these boys should be sued to help pay for the babies their child assisted in bringing life into this world. It's ALWAYS the young woman and her family that end up paying for everything and that's WRONG!

@@commonsense4207 I just posed a question and your response goes of the rails just a bit. I understand the responsibility aspects but destroying lives because kids have sex is too much. You're creating canarios that haven't happened in my question. I asked a simple question, I'm not suggesting it be law, just curious about your thoughts. Be reasonable with your answers. The original story is about a school that provides pregnant teens the opportunity to finish school and offer them guidance if they don't have the help. This in no way says its okay to be a teen mom. What this school does do is help teen girls not lose that chance to finish high school and potentially go to college especially if she does not have support from the baby daddy or his family. Kids will have sex, it has been happening for thousands of years and there is nothing you can say or do to stop it. No parent can control their children 24-7

what you see there is that discrepancy being institutionally upheld. this school exists for teen moms and not for teen dads because it's just assumed that the mothers have to take care of the children, and the fathers will go on with their lives mostly as if they didn't have children. if the system assumed that fathers ought to share equal responsibility (other than the pregnancy), then that school would be for both girls and boys.

Do you seriously believe these girls had sex and were ignorant about where babies come from? The state of Texas has sex education in middle school. They have parents and the parents bear a primary responsibility to teach their children about life, including sex. You can obtain birth control methods or be abstinent when you are this young. Nowhere in the video did these girls say they wanted an abortion. Most of the girls in this video had their pregnancy before the abortion ban they chose to not do that. If they are poor, which im assuming they are, they have access to free healthcare in America.

South Texas has long had the highest teen birthrate for many years. Children having children also need education. Regular public schools do not make accomodations for pregnant students. Uneducated parents generally do not contribute to society; it behooves us all to educate young parents so they can raise their children and have some opportunities in life. I think the fathers should be made to attend these schools as well and participate in parenting classes too.

This occurs in every state! Just wait until Texas totally bans contraception--they have already banned abortions. The state government's main goals are to turn it into a Christian Nationalist society, rid their state of brown/black people, demand every resident adhere to cis-gender behavior and ideations, and dumb down the education for 'unwanted" residents. It takes 2 to make a baby--yet the males are often not identified or held responsible. I am a RN, and worked in a program for pregnant and parent adolescents--we had MANY students as young as 9 yo. They are babies themselves! If you do not allow age appropriate sex education instruction in school, kids will not know how to prevent pregnancy--and it is NOT being taught at home! When you have very young pregnant girls, the fathers are usually family members or family friends! We need far more programs like this! We need to help these girls--and we need to break the cycle of adolescent pregnancy and poverty!

@@deianogueira1 A guy (someone who was like a brother to me) told me years ago, when we were doing our complusory national youth service in Nigeria, that as a lady I should be incharge in my relationship with boys/men. Men do not respect any lady or girl who doesn't have boundaries. Also, it's easy for men to detach themselves from babies. A mother is much more attached to their babies, so eventhough you hold these boys responsible, they won't still be the ones to physically care for the babies. It's always a girl or woman's instinct to nurture and care for babies. So no matter what we do, it is still the girls that will pay the highest price of premarital pregnancies. I will still stand on what is best - which is the commandment of God- keep yourself till when you get married. Sex was designed for a man and woman who have been joined together legally as husband and wife. Men & boys (to a large extent) only commit to and feel responsible for anyone when they are married. There's a saying, there's no need to buy a cow if the cow keeps giving it's milk for free. Finally, it is actually difficult to stay sexually pure these days but anything is possible with the help of God- through His Son Jesus Christ. I myself am a living testimony that it is possible. Did I face temptations? Yes of course but God showed me a way of escape when I asked Him to help me.

We have a school like this in Canberra. It takes consideration of the young mothers' (and some young fathers too) circumstances and allows them up to double the time to complete their studies and gain the school leaving certificate. Each state also has schools specifically for at risk youth focusing on practical training courses that provide legitimate career paths. Good to see these schemes elsewhere.

Where are daddies? They should be here in this special school, not the girls who are literally being segregated from their peers. This is sad.

It seems beneficial in that the girls receive the support they need to graduate while their baby is not separated from the mother. This would not be possible in a regular school setting. The State is right to provide this as a solution so the mother can have the best chance at being productive citizens, rather than dropping out.

Notice how this specialty high school only showed Hispanic students. Hispanics are not the only race in the United States. White and East Asian girls are far less likely to get pregnant than Hispanic and black girls in the US.
