Princess Latifa urges UK police to reopen sister's kidnap case - BBC News

Princess Latifa, the captive daughter of Dubai's ruler, has appealed to British police to re-investigate the kidnap of her older sister from a Cambridge street more than 20 years ago.
In a letter shared with the BBC, Latifa tells Cambridgeshire police this could help free Princess Shamsa, who was captured on the orders of their father.
Shamsa, who was just 18 then and is now 39, has not been seen in public since.
The government of Dubai has not responded to BBC requests for comment.

I remember a brother of a Sheikh in one of the smaller Emirates in UAE wanting me to be his 3rd wife with a Villa, a Ferrari and all that money can buy but even in my 20’s I knew if I had accepted this I would be a prisoner forever. My friends then said I was stupid not to accept it. I lived and worked in Dubai for 4 years. There’s no human rights. For example if you report a rape as a woman and you are intoxicated you will get imprisoned. If you lose your job and you owe the bank money or give someone a bounced check you go to jail If you live together as a couple and you’re not married you go to jail. Very sad.

Women also had freedom to worship and teach in Mosque. It was later that women were banned from teaching and the mosque. Khadija was an independent business woman. Aisha led an army. What happened that the ideas of the prophet were so soon disregarded and his progressive views discarded? Shame that women are being treated in this way.

No one is forbidding these girls from education in the best schools in the UAE, or being business women and leaders and examples for people to emulate in good. What kind of kid would embarrass her father, her entire country, in order to become a runaway girl? Obamas daughters had protocols while he was the president. They couldn't just do whatever they wanted lest it damages his presidency and causes scandals. They had professionals telling them what to do and not to do. Someone who behaves like these girls have no comprehension. It is a punishment, because they brought these trials on to the people of the UAE at the cost of materialism and economy until the very trials themself afflicted his own daughters. It is a lesson to learn from. That having righteous kids, united family that loves one another is far more important than materialism, wealth and unrighteous kids, and family members that despise one another. All of those riches will mean nothing when you don't even have your family. My advice is for him to build an Islamic City where the kids of the land are brought up, free from the extreme materialism, influence and trials of this world until they become mature, righteous and have the best perspective on life and not ingrate brats. Similar trials were afflicted upon your queen. Prince Harry doesn't want his titles anymore, but chose hollywood over it. We live in late times, and nobility, righteousness and good manners are being undone, one by one.

These young women dont seem to have done anything that could be described as licentious behaviour. In terms of exposure to materialism is concerned, or family values, it hardly seems a credible argument if you look at the obscene wealth they were raised with, or indeed, that they have both effectively been kidnapped and forced into captivity for years. This is not the result of guidance from a wise and loving father, this is the opposite of decent, loving and respectful familial behaviour. Perhaps the question should be what causes a daughter, with a comfortable, privileged life, with a loving, guiding father, to want to run away? Do you consider, for a moment, that perhaps there was a very good reason why these women risked so much to remove themselves from his control? Is it because he is not a very good man? Certainly it would seem holding your children captive and drugging them, 'disappearing' them, is a sign of a controlling and cruel person...who you would probably want to escape from.

Or is it that we live in dangerous times of extreme temptations that made princes and princesses chose hollywood over their families? I don't believe that they were prevented from education in oxford, but that they might get a boyfriend, do unlawful things and damage an entire country's reputation. I grew up in the west, have seen the Jahiliyyah therein, and I have relatives in my age in Saudi Arabia. When I went to visit them, they couldn't stop asking how things where in europe. We on the other hand were so glad just to be in a land where no trials are seen. They have no idea of how good they have it, because they have not seen the darkness of Jahiliyyah. Millions of Muslims in the west who are practicing Islam would exchange their citizenship with such people. Do you know how many converts I know that would do anything just live in Madinah? They haven't seen the world, and they do not know hardship. They saw a fake glamorous image of hollywood, and are rushing towards it, and then interpreting it as restrictedness and abuse if their parents keep them safe from their own wretchedness. Parents do not trust ignorant and rebellious kids to fend for themselves. They trust mature, intelligent and righteous kids. So these kids should have been brought up in an Islamic City free from outside influence, then brought home. They would have done much good and reform if such was their childhood. But they were brought up as brats, ingrates until nothing was enough for them. So much so that they couldn't think twice before embarrassing their father and countrymen like this.
