I really appreciate the respectful way in which PM Starmer treated his departing opponent. I hope that he will be able back these promises with actions, though. My impression is that he intends to. However there is a serious uphill struggle ahead. All the very best!!!

I wholeheartedly agree. I am a lifelong Labour voter, however Kier Starmer is the first Labour PM I can remember that seems like a decent guy. I'm a Durham Miner's granddaughter and I couldn't, in good conscious, vote anything but Labour, but Starmer seems like he WANTS to make a difference, for everyone.

You’ve got a snowballs chance in hell if that. Removing FPTP decreases the odds of one of the two parties winning. I doubt they will have a referendum on it either as the word “referendum” is a dirty, taboo word in politics.

@@smunro1983We already did have a referendum on it in 2011. The establishment basically ran a smear campaign against changing it and as such the people voted to keep it. Any real idea of changing the voting system is completely dead since then.

@@sodium7127 FPTP is a ridiculous archaic system and needs to go. I agree. Labour got just 34% of the vote, yet ended up with nearly 2/3's of all the seats in the Commons! That's insane! Liberals got 12% of the vote and got 71 seats! Reform had 14% of the vote, 4 seats. FPTP is a joke!

​@@antispindr8613 "high income taxers" are usually very short sighted and don't understand how the world really works. If you tax companies high %, they will literally just move to another country. You should be competitive and charge as low % tax as you can to be competitive - see GCC countries. The UKs tax rates are insanely high for what you're getting - a cold, wet, miserable country with pothole roads, failing health system and public transport. They should be charging as little as they can to attract people to want to do business in the UK and grow the economy. The UK is built on the value it once stole, and now it's realising it. Time to humble ourselves and make the UK an attractive offer again.
