Sometimes it can provide if the sun shines of the wind blows (Here in UK we have had three weeks with neither) much of the total demand but the fossil fuel power stations must be kept on standby negating much of the advantage and need subsidies for when they are unable to sell to the grid but must keep working. Electricity is in any case only about 20% of total energy needs. A total farce. The result is highest energy costs ever in developed world when we were told it would be so cheap that it would be almost free.

Gas is the most successful method of reducing emissions while keeping the lights on. For electricity generation gas has 50% less emissions per unit of electricity than coal. Both the UK and USA have successfully reduced emissions by making the switch. The USA by using gas produced by hydraulic fracturing.

I'm not sure if it's gotten fully ice-free yet, but it has certainly gotten very close to it, and very navigable in the summer. there are composite videos of the arctic sea ice over the last couple of decades, the summer coverage is at least 80% smaller in area than it was half a century ago. arctic ice is a terrible example to make a climate change denial claim on, it's probably the most obvious proof of warming.

​@Intelligence_Failure the artic ice is shrinking but it's happening at a slower pace than expected. The original date was mid to late 2010s, then it was early 2020s now they are saying by 2030. A cooling period is expected in 2045. The earth appears to be following patterns of warming and cooling which aren't exactly synchronised so it's hard to predict accurately.
