Stop dividing the world into arbitrary segments that you can generalize or speak for. Nations do far from always have the same values and national interests as even their closest neighbors. If you want BRICS to succeed learn from western mistakes, stick to economic corporation, don't try to make it a political entity that blackmail its members into supporting the foreign policy of the economically strong members. Otherwise BRICS will just become everything you hated about the western counterpart.

There needs to be balance. The world has for too long been under the dominance of the US backed alliance because of its economic and military hegemony. As a European, I'm not overly enthused about an alliance where a country like Russia plays a significant role, but at this point, I'm willing to entertain the notion that any kind of counter to US led control might at least force a restructuring of the global order, which is much needed in light of what's happening in the middle east.
@revol148
@revol148 3 сағат бұрын
@ChrisAlbertH47 agreed but be careful what you wish for: a world dominated by China concerns me. Russia is not even a contender - their economy is smaller than Italy ! As for Brazil - they have been on the verge of a first world country since the late 1970's and South Africa is pretty much over now that the blacks have taken control and driven its economy into the ground which white south Africa predicated it would back in the 1980's.
@ChrisAlbertH47
@ChrisAlbertH47 3 сағат бұрын
@@revol148 China can be a cause for concern, but they have been more willing to play within the lines so to speak when it comes to international relations. So I'm gonna give them the benefit of the doubt. And since BRICS is more of an economic alliance as opposed to a military or security alliance, there is more incentive to play nice with each other if common arrangements that can be collectively beneficial can be reached. My personal desire is just to see the growth of a strong economic institution to challenge the dollar.

What's happening in the Middle East is the shifting of the global order. Israel is posing to establish itself as a major superpower, after expanding its territory considerably and establishing trade agreements with the Gulf States and India. That's why Hamas is so against normalization: it means making Israel responsible for "national security" in the ME among its allies.

It took many centuries of change and wars, uprisings, and several serious internal issues and still survived for over 1,000 years. But only just two and half centuries for it to fall. We are taking less than a century, and our height was just 50 years ago.

Who really cares? Let’s assume for a moment China overcomes the US as the leading economy. Which country would you rather reside as an objective citizen? My point is social freedoms such as religion, speech, relationship, government, and others can’t be measured on the economic scale and are vastly more important to the happiness of individuals. So yes if we start adding countries..one, two, five, ten, twenty, at some point the collection will outweigh the US in economic might. I really don’t care and it’s irrelevant to the lives of Americans.
@Pixelarter
@Pixelarter 25 минут бұрын
_"Which country would you rather reside as an objective citizen?"_ China. Just watch any video of people that live in China (that are not a propaganda piece by either side), and you will see that they are a much more technologically advanced civilization than the US, and offer a better quality of life for the common citizen. The notion that Chinese citizens have much less "freedom" than US citizens is wrong and mostly propaganda. US citizens are slaves to the financial system and corporations, with ever decreasing quality of life for common people. They have the "freedom" to act exactly as "the market" wants, otherwise they end homeless, with no social security, and miserable lives. American freedom is an illusion.
