I have been associated with the construction of Srisailam Dam during 1976 to 1985 as a Civil Engineer. World Bank has not funded for this Project. Part of Project Cost was founded by Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in 1976 - 1977. This funding was of immense help for completion of this Project. This Dam stands as a MODEL for all Dams constructed in India. One can find all the features of GRAVITY HIGH DAM in this Dam Project. We have maintained the Best Quality in Construction. All employees right from Lower Class to Eminent Engineers have contributed their LIFE BLOOD for the Project.

This is because of quality of works in those days. In recent days, we see newly opened dam collapsing within a day in Jharkhand. Water already overflowed twice (2009,2019) from top of the dam, should prevent happening it again.

I think there is power generating system also so to produce more power there should be lot of water with high velocity should fall on turbines so that it will produce power..to maintain that amount of water dam should shorter only otherwise water will adjust the area and it will flow in normal speed..so i think by considering all these things they constructed like that amd at the same time dam is in between two hills and it has that much space only..of course those rocks are the heart of the dam..
