I'll admit when I say that both of them suck in terms of modern music today, but when Zedd does EDM he makes it more creative than anything else today. You can literally find any song on the Bass House and Mainstage charts on Beatport that sound exactly like MG

I used to think so too after watching pop culture. But if you look closely in the video he`s just pretending to turn knobs. Also since all the songs have already been sampled there`s not much need for manipulation. Not denying he`s one of the best DJs I know and the boy single-handedly created a new genre. But almost all except faders and compressors shit he does here is fake, which I don't understand as Madeon is hella cool why would he pretend

Also the transition is at most on 3 channels yet he is changing the knobs at all 4 channels in his allen and heath controller. If you want I can elaborate further as to why he's pretend pushing buttons half the time.

The knobs adjust the volume of the tracks. This is more than likely pre-recorded, but volume adjustment is standard fare for any DJ looking to achieve the certain effect they're going for. That, and you don't exactly want a layer of sound overpowering another.
