Touching how universal the themes or connections that musicians have for their craft and their profession. When Jim Kerr is asked about "40 years"? "we hope for 40 days, then we wanted to play at University, then play 3 gigs, then..." In Wilco's live road movie Ashes of American Flags Jeff Tweedy stated about what he hoped for when he started playing in his first band Uncle Tupelo "we hoped we could get a gig, then we hoped we could get a few gigs, then local colleges, then what if we bought a van to travel to clubs across the state line..." They both had high hopes and humble beginnings but achieved great things... And they both sought and ACHIEVED being great live bands... I'm thankful for a life full of music and art, Simple Minds has been a part of my life for 35 years stateside in Chicago.

I love the classic band lineup from the '80s, and that's primarily what I listen to from these guys. I just can't get myself to like anything they've done after that.....

Yes 1991's 'Real Life' was a drop in standards from earlier albums. Since then I only know (& like) 'She's a River'. But a top 80's band.

Staying together. Your missing the main three who gave you the success. Mick McNiel, Derek Forbes and the best Drummer in the whole world Mel Gaynor.
