You don't have to be black to see into George's heart, passion and motivation!! I'm a 70 year old white from a working class background and whose parents had no aspirations whatsoever for me except that I might marry and give them grandchildren. They gave me nil understanding or preparation for adulthood and it is only in very recent years that I have tried to get my head around the history and politics of Britain and other countries. I just love George's gifting to explain his own experience in such a meaningful and accessible way. Big thanks to everyone involved in his mission. ❤

I only just discovered him but already am warmed to his intelligent, thoughtful and purposeful assessment of the way people struggle when exposed to cultures different to their own, and the consideration of how politicians need to respect the value of everyone and realise that investing in the lives of all people rather than profit and success might promote more harmony. He's one to look up to and respect - thanks to a quiet godly spirit.

"Pierre Bourdieu said all reality is a construct, We exist in relation to our social ties, So you'll never understand me without looking at where I'm from, As some of the local guys. I'm the exception to the rule... That was my first real lesson and opportunity, Save yourself or get left in a lost community, Even though I sold myself from my friends, If I stayed there, I couldnt be much help for my ends, See all reality is a construct, we exist in relation to other guys and girls, And I had to move to a better reality, From where everybody tries and fails" ❤

@connorovington60134 жыл бұрын
Expect he went to Cambridge; the undertone of the song is the juxtaposition between that middle class education and the working class upbringing. People live experiences and learn how to articulate them. For better or worse, oxbridge helps with the later.

Here you are, in one of the greatest countries in the world, with a strong democratic history, having just receiving the offer of an MBE... And you basically feel compelled to refuse to accept it, just to make some petty questionable virtue signal? What a shallow victim mentality!

Neil That’s quite a shallow viewpoint to be honest...the man has a right to do as he pleases, he’s not harming anyone...if you care so much about a MBE go and get one yourself...that might make you more contented. Your comment just smacks of the usual arrogance you see so much of nowadays....people have the right to choose, someone is offered something, they don’t accept it, so what, move on.
