As a Dutch guy from Rotterdam I can say Slot is overrated. The current succes is all thanks to Jurgen. He really should get a statue. All players are players brought due Jurgen. Slot made 1 signing this far and it is a disaster (Chiesa). Klopp made this team and is the founding father. Slot is just someone who stepped in. At Feijenoord we see now what slot has left, and that is a complete mess. That is his legacy at feijenoord. Dont overrate Slot because you get fooled. Everyone now is joining the hype train, but rest assured, he will made a mess just as he did at feijenoord. And that is sad to see happen to Liverpool.

Arne took a job many others were afraid to, and he's been absolutely amazing. Not just on the field but off it. For Liverpool, you have to be one with the city, the city has to accept you as its leader on the field, and after Jurgen that's a tough thing to try and achieve for an incoming manager, but he absolutely has. Love the guy. As a side note, you can really see in his eyes just how much he misses his family. Thanks, Arne. YNWA

@alex-nade 7 күн бұрын
He’s also handled all his media like a champ. Amorim complained on Day 1. Arne has had to do just as much media if not MORE given the post-Jurgen era narrative. He’s been asked to sit down and talk every five seconds since arriving in England. Each time he looks like he has all the time in the world for the interviewer, even if it he’d just come off a dozen of them. He’s found good humor in dealing with dull repetitive questions he’s barred by the club from answering. Regardless what happens this season I respect Arne and I’m glad we got him YNWA

So when the people of Cambuur and AZ were already convinced of his qualities, it took the fans of Feyenoord a few years more to discover Slot is a great coach. But also the recruitment of a manager who plays a certain way and is from a place with similarities to our city. The club deserve huge praise, Jurgen was an impossible act to follow, which is what my Dad said about Shanks. That turned out alright, and this isn’t doing too bad either. @ Do you even? we are a small club with fewer quality than Feyenoord or AZ. For us, a cross is often not a goal and this was reflected in the data. From that moment on, he preferred to run through the center as much as possible (dangerous zone (never heard of it)), combine with possession of the ball to control the match and create spaces with smart runs. He also always has a “plan B or plan C or plan D” “if the opponent is going to do this, you do this” “if the opponent is going to do that, you do that”, He always has a answer ALWAYS Except this is a people person. The players who not played often choose exercises the next training day to involve them to the first eleven as much as possible. The team above all! We beat Ajax and Utrecht in the Dutch Cup because of him 🙏🏻

When Slot arrived I knew next to nothing about him. Then Feyenoord fans promised me he was amazing. So I backed him and I argued with people on this site who said they were Liverpool fans who were unhappy with this 'bald Dutch nobody' replacing an icon in Jurgen Klopp. I believed in the promise that was given to me and I'm happy to say that those Feyenoord fans didn't lie and didn't make a fool of me. But I kind of knew that when I decided that they were being genuine. We've won nothing yet but this man has all the hallmarks of a top coach and if the first 6 months of his tenure are indicative of anything then it all looks rosy and I'm more than happy to exclaim 'Arne Slot LALA-LA-LALA!

In May I met a Spurs fan on the beach on Ibiza. We started talking about football, the Spurs-Feyenoord rivalry and ofc Arne Slot. I remember me saying that the Spurs made the wrong decision the year before with hiring Postecoglou instead of Slot and that Slot will bring success to Liverpool. I enjoy the success since Feyenoord is my number 1 club but Liverpool is the only other club I like going back to when I was young and watch BBC with Liverpool games. The great Ian Rush, John Barnes and Peter Beardsley.

@@tonykivanc To be fair, Slot loved Feyenoord and would have to leave his family in NL, so he'd be justified in thinking he needs to hold out for a bigger job than Spurs. I can absolutely see him turning it down. However it really played out, I'm sure Slot is absolutely thrilled (on the inside, since he never appears anything but calm on the outside) he held out for Liverpool. Good chance he'd be battling to explain the value of patient build-up to the dysfunctional Spurs fanbase while counting down to the 18 months managers get at that circus of a club otherwise instead of chilling at the top of the league ;)

@@paulie-g from what i have heard from different podcasts from different feyenoord clubwatchers: he wanted to go and the main reason is money. This guy never earned big wages and he wanted to become financially independent as soon as possible. He even made it hard towards the director of Feyenoord. So they gave him a bump in his salary and removed some things out of his contract (if im correct)

@@tonykivanc Tbf, that's understandable since he spent most of his career in the second division and the less wealthy clubs in the Eredivisie afaik. Feyenoord, even if they tried very hard, can't match what Liverpool pay their manager (Klopp was in the top 5 best paid managers iirc, with only Simeone and maybe Pep above him). But Slot doesn't strike me as someone who's motivated purely by money, maybe I'm being naive, but I don't think it's his only consideration.
