YOU'RE JOKING ME??? This is like... an astounding level of technique for a week one Samba????? Maisie did NOT come to play. Amazing hip action and character, as well as very advanced footwork and content that really shocked me! She performed a near perfect batucada, as well as two Samba roll combinations, one natural and one shadowed. She DID miss the heal lead on the Corta Jaca, but this is CLEARLY going to be the frontrunning couple this year. No doubt in my mind. 8!

Probably the BEST samba performed by a strictly star EVER, and on WEEK ONE!!!!!!! My goodness, she has everything to win. I personally find the samba to be the hardest dance for the celebs, and so far no one had been able to do it properly. For me, this was the first time a strictly celebrity nailed the samba!! Fab - u - lous!!!

A samba week one is ridiculously cruel from the producers really, I understand not giving her a Cha Cha because she did that on a children in need but 9 times out of 10 it goes awfully week 1 (obviously Kelvin is an exception) but my god that was fantastic. 8’s fully deserved. Her lines, movement and the ability to cope with it is very very good

Bless your optimism- but dancers this technically good in week 1 never win. Finalists- yeah, but not winners. (See Ashley, Karim, Faye, Danny Mac, Aston, Debbie McGee, etc etc etc) It's always the ones that show progression that win. Same goes for Hrvy. Sure, Kelvin won, but he didn't give the impression of having had prior training as his dance was less technically difficult and relied more on chutzpah. A great samba- but different skills showcased. Plus- male celebs get given more latitude on such matters.

Yep knew she was gonna nail it. Everything we went voltas, Samba roll, stationary walk etc. I loved everything about this. She has so much energy, hip action and her timing is insanely good for week 1. If this is her at the hardest Latin American dance aren't I excited for what she has to whip up next 😁😁😁😁. She really does have natural rhythm and conga is the best song for Samba. I'm worried she will overdo it and the public won't like her or think she is over confident. But she is an absolute contender. Her armography was ninety to the dozen too. I loved the theme and choreography and it paid off big time. *8/10*

Is this week 1?! I was absolutely BLOWEN AWAY by the level of her dancing!! What can I say?! Gorgeous outfits - check Fantastic music - check Perfect sense of rhythm - check Magnificent hip action and some lovely shimmies - check I could hardly notice any errors in her footwork!! What a lovely choreography that was, packed with tones of traditional samba content! Her baducadas, her promenade runs, her whisks and her stationary samba walk were all pretty FLAWLESS!! It was very close to a 10 for me. There were just two noticeable errors: her footwork in the "Corta-Jacka" was incorrect and she didn't have any hip action in her voltas. Haven't said that, her musucality, the lines that she has created, the level of her technique... it's hard to believe this is only week 1... ONG!!! My score: an 8.

Ok, the Samba is an incredibly intimidating dance to take on, especially week one. And Gorka did not make it easy for her. But dang Maisie took it on in stride. The samba is very much a dance of controlled chaos, and I think her performance was spot on. I noticed a few misteps here and there, but for week one I am truly surprised at how well she already is technically. (8)

I remember Maisie participating in Children in Need last year with Kevin and I believe she won that! So I had high expectations for her, and let me tell you HUNNYYYY!!!! She AND Gorka came out the cannon swinging. Nice Cuban breaks, fluent movement throughout the entire dance, the execution was A-MA-ZING!!! Plus, the little trick at the end!! Yes Mam!!
